Re: Battlefront III News
wow they are really going for this game wow. the troubble is this is making me think this is the final one of the swbf series because of all the cut scenes, new characters, correct skins, alternate story and the ship interiors. wow
now for some math
maths:how many coppies of swbf3 will sell:
(swbf1 copies sold) x (swbf2 copies sold) x (gametoast memebers) x (swbffiles memebers) = the copies that swbf3 willsell
so who thinks this is the final 1 in the series because of all the new things and they are pushing there limits (which is good)?

I'm upset and afraid by this new story line, since there doesn't seem to be room for deviation, there won't be a meh comment. People will generally love it, or hate it. The idea that this may be the major or only storyline present in the game is a growing risk.

I think someone may have already posted this, but at the end, I'm pretty sure it says "P23 (or PSP, not sure), Xbox 360, Wii, PC" before everyone starts screaming and the camera shakes around.

I... can't.... wait.... I wonder what the gameplay is gonna be like and how the AI will react and like in BF2, is there going to be a instant action thing? Let it release soon!

A growing risk? Uhh... as compared to the risk that we wouldn't get a story at all? I fail to see how any sort of storyline is anything but an upgrade. How can you be upset by the new storyline when you don't know anything about it? I don't think those of us who are excited are excited about what the storyline is (since no one knows) but are excited about the possibility of actually having an engaging single-player mode.Grev wrote:I'm upset and afraid by this new story line, since there doesn't seem to be room for deviation, there won't be a meh comment. And that is the worst math ever. Here's why:
SWBF1 copies sold = 4 million (http://articles.latimes.com/2007/oct/12 ... fi-games12)
SWBF2 copies sold = 6 million (same article, and remember, this was over a year ago)
Gametoast members = ~900
SWBFFiles members = thousands (no exact figure, we'll underestimate and say 2000)
4,000,000 * 6,000,000 * 900 * 2000 = 43.2 quintillion. That's 7.2 billion copies for every person on Earth.
I mean, there's exaggeration, and then there's exaggeration. This game will not be the new king of games.

Re: Battlefront III News
I've never really been a big supporter of a "ground to space" feature (I was more impressed by Coruscant than I was going into space) so that being taken out isn't a big deal to me, but I just hope that they aren't downgrading the game too much. The game should be a progression of the previous ones and should feel like something new, so let's hope that they won't remove too many new features.

You better plan on breaking 329,000 CDs a day when playing BFIII then.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Sounds good to me.Maveritchell wrote:4,000,000 * 6,000,000 * 900 * 2000 = 43.2 quintillion. That's 7.2 billion copies for every person on Earth.

And just because I love number-crunching and I don't think the perspective was accurately set - that's enough copies of Battlefront III to cover the United States...Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Sounds good to me.Maveritchell wrote:4,000,000 * 6,000,000 * 900 * 2000 = 43.2 quintillion. Re: Battlefront III News
What I'm afraid of is the idea that this may be the only story line, and it may be a super fail. Sith obi goes against a lot of people know and love, which may seem like a down for lots of people. I'm not upset about the story line. I'm upset about what fan response to this storyline will be. And most people who have responded about the new storyline have responded about Sith- obi, not the "engaging single play mode", so...Maveritchell wrote:A growing risk? They won't (and can't, because they'd have to get LA approval) make a story that goes against established canon. That's one of the nicer things about Star Wars - they have canon police all up in Lucasarts/Lucasfilms business to make sure that there's one coherent storyline. People can make new stuff, but as soon as it interferes with the real stuff - movies, TV show - it's gone.Grev wrote:What I'm afraid of is the idea that this may be the only story line, and it may be a super fail. Anything you see as mentioned above would strictly be confined to a "what-if" storyline, like Tean mentioned. No way the main storyline would do something like that. (Sort've like there are alternate paths in KotOR, Force Unleashed, or Jedi Knight).
And yes, lesovikk, that's already been posted. Read the article, it doesn't say anything about the project itself being dead.

I think what confused him, and apparently everyone else who was commenting, was this:Maveritchell wrote:And yes, lesovikk, that's already been posted. Read the article, it doesn't say anything about the project itself being dead.
I took it like that first, then I realized it probably meant just the space battles the way they were. "Game" could be meant as summin like "battle" in that sentence, so probably this may be what they meant:
And now a moment of silence for an idea that could have made a great space maps.
Kotaku wrote:And now a moment of silence for what would have been a great game.

Re: Battlefront III News
You have a great point about the ground to space thing. I think it's better now, as I think about it. Might make it ten times more epic, probably more epic than in Ep3 where Anakin and Obi-wan arrived to the battle of Coruscant. Speaking of which, I just hope they have some sort of awesome modding stuff that will either come with it or come later. They'd better have better tools, though...at least I hope. I really want to simply be able to add my own maps in. Perhaps a Real Time Editor. Those are always nice because you can test them in real time within the editor, hence the name, but you guys know that. The real question is if they are going to rely on 'Sides' or if they are going to allow easy unit/faction creation that won't interfere too much with the original coding of the game. That'd rock. Imagine machinimas being made in this?
For that matter, custom vehicles ..... custom weapons..... not to mention the custom maps that will be awesome, depending on the simplicity of the modding. I think they want it to be more user friendly so more people will mod/map for it....at least I think.... what do you guys think might come with it regarding modding? Dunno if I skipped a page about modding, but I just wanna know what you guys think about if modding should be more user friendly in the case of this game?

The things regarding modding I think it'll come with are .lvls. Then we wait 6 months for mod tools, and in the mean time "mod" by hexediting.RevanSithLord wrote:You have a great point about the ground to space thing. I think it's better now, as I think about it. I hope they will have other legions for different maps and not focus on just one legion, like the 501st for BF2.

Re: Battlefront III News
i know this might seem rude in a sense....... but i acctually hope that the mod tools are at the same dificulty or only semi easier than they are now.....
before you start just bashing me i have my reasons.... if any1 can make a map then whats the point of GT? there wont be any more how do i say it..... "competition to learn more and become a better modder" atleast if they make it that easy also there wont be any "anticipation" for maps..... since any1 who can take the time could do it themselves..... i mean right now the term "Boeing Descendent" , atleast to me, means some1 puts time effort and literally blood sweat and tears into there map to make it the best it can possibly be without crashing.
but if it takes maby a month maby even a week to do something like that then there is gonna be tons of "Boeing" type maps. which means what was once jaw dropping is just gonna be known as "Average" ...... then the only way to make a Truely jaw dropping map would be to overload the entire game........
unless of course you all think diffrently upon what i have said =P
