How do you fix black sky?

Post by Press_Tilty »

I've searched, and looked through the FAQs and everything, but I can't find out how you fix the lower half of the sky if your flyers can see it. help?

I'm just a novice modder, but I don't think you can. However you may be able to cover it with a horison model, or some terrain.

I think it is possible to have a reverse skydome on the bottom, but I'm not sure how I would edit my .sky file to include that.

Or you could just use a different skydome. Their's quite a variety but I think the Tatoine one works. Just take your current texture and rename to whatever skydome's texture you use and change the reference in the sky file to that dome.

That wouldn't fit the map. And Mav said the Kashyyyk map does that, but I put it in and it didn't.

Try using the space skydome. It should be large enough and go under the terrain as well.

I don't know what that means...

Just put it in like any other skydome? But then it would be all starry...

The space skydome is a MSH too, isn't it? You can easily change the sky texture if you don't want it to look like outer space.

Oh, I get it.

EDIT: Uh...there's a lot of things to replace...if its not a problem, can you tell me where to put it? Thanks!

you put it where all skadomes are put: data_XXX\Worlds\XXX\World1
skys are usally have "sky" in their name and the XXX.sky file contains info about the skydome used and other objects in the distance

Works perfectly fine for me. You can easily change the texture or hex-edit the msh to use a different texture. I haven't actually experimented with all the space skies but at least the Polis Massa one "bands" its textures around several times, which is a pity because I was wanting a full sphere sky dome.
