Looking To Buy Modern Warfare Game (No not Call of Duty)
Well I am on the hunt for a pretty tactical, fun, hopefully pretty well graphiced, modern warfare game (modern warfare meaning a game based on modern times not Call of Duty-Modern Warfare, though if that is your fave maybe I should just go with that).
So tell me a good modern warfare game to get!

This game is a bit older, but I'd recommend Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. It still has a decent MP population, last time I checked. CoD4 is also a good choice, and I consider it SoF2's true successor. If you can wait two months, Modern Warfare 2 will be available as well.

Call of Duty 4 (I'll be the first to suggest it) is a great game. I fully loved the campaign and multiplayer never gets old. I've even played through the campaign several times.

Why creating this Topic?
It`s self explaining, that CoD4 is sure the best Modern Warfare Game ,that has been released. So its everbodys Fav and can be read also in COD4 Topic Replies here or elsewhere.Sure there are some good Alternatives but CoD4 is the best at the Moment.
@ Delta578
1 Go and buy CoD4 ,if your Mature and you love hard Ego-Shooter.
2.Rent or Buy also Fronlines Fuel of War (its rated 16+) you sure will like it.You will be surprised ,how Modern Warfare-ish it is.You control/guide Drones and youre able to fly Apatche and F16.What is way hard. They arent easy to Control.
3.Buy for sure Double Helix and if you like a Tactical Shooter out of Rainbow 6 Series but not Vegas 2,I played it on PS3 and its totally crappy.Sorry DeathRow..Vegas 1 is way way better
4.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fi ... n_shooters.
This should not be rude or what ever only wanted to clear it out.

Re: Looking To Buy Modern Warfare Game (No not Call of Duty)
Wait for the holidays, I'd say, and buy Modern Warfare 2.
It looks to be a rather nice sequel to Call of Duty 4 from the footage I've watched, though you might want to play through the CoD4 campaign first.
The multiplayer, naturally, is built on the award-winning CoD4 system so of course it will be nothing short of spectacular.
Another nice shooter is Battlefield: Bad Company. If you want to wait until next March, you can get the sequel, Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Re: Looking To Buy Modern Warfare Game (No not Call of Duty)
Id suggest you Rainbow6 RavenShield, it has got decent graphic, and its a real tactical shooter.
Vegas and Vegas 2 are more arcade (little thinking, much shooting, straightforward levels, almost like COD games)
Then there is SWAT4, which is really awesome. Its like R6 RavenShield, but with more tactical gadgets and a bit different gameplay (your priority is to capture the enemies alive instead of just killing them). However its much easier than R6RS.
Last but not least: Operation Flashpoint, Armed Assault, ArmA2
Those games are called military simulators, that means that instead of close quarters youll engage the enemies on open areas and most of the firefights are carried out at a distance of 100-200 meters.
You can take almost every role in the combat like a sniper, pilot, soldier, specop etc and use various vehicles.
Imagine Battlefield2 but much more realistic.
All games are very realistic. You will also need to have a tactical feeling and use the advantages of your team (and try to avoid disadvantages) otherwise that games can be very frustrating even at easy difficulties
EDIT: forgot to mention the Ghost Recon series, which is also very good. The first games feature open areas while GRAW and GRAW2 are mostly street combat.

What are you getting it for? PS3, PC, or 360?
If PS3 get SOCOM or Battlefield: Bad Company
If PC get Battlefield 2 (with expansions) or wait until March for Bad Company 2.
If 360, IDK I don't have one.

I don't think that everyone on this forum strictly likes Call of Duty 4 as has become apparent. A fair bit of people don't. But that's beside the point and we don't need a game war on this topic so anyway:
Seems that Rainbow 6, Battlefield: Bad Company, Call of Duty and Frontlines Fuel of War are the ones I should get or consider (I already have Frontlines but my diskdrive broke so I couldn't install it). I will research these games and get the ones appropriate. Thank you all for you insight I will be sure to check out all of the games suggested. Thanks!

Well, I happened to pick up BF 2142 for 1 euro last week and I must say that it was a fun game as well. Whilst computer seems to be having problems with BattleField 2, it showed positively no lag with BF 2142. Also, it's quite fun as a diversion from BFII.

If you're on a budget, you can't get any cheaper than America's Army. I have 2, but they just released 3. The only thing, there isn't any campaign, and the full download takes literally days. But the multiplayer is addictive, and fun. http://www.americasarmy.com/
If you haven't played any of the Tom Clancy games, there all pretty much based off modern times. Here's a list of the games and their genres.
Splinter Cell---Stealth/Tactical Shooter
Rainbow Six---Squad based Tactical Shooter
Ghost Recon--Squad based Tactical Shooter/Stealth
H.A.W.X.-----Flying Shooter/Fighter Sim
End War-------Real Time Strategy

I have played everyone but H.A.W.X. (Which I heard was terrible) and End War RULES!! But I don't recommend it, it's full of bugs and glitches.

Re: Looking To Buy Modern Warfare Game (No not Call of Duty)
I here that.
I just finished Call of Duty 4, awesome, loved it, pretty basic plot line but the gameplay was a challenge (which I love) now I going to start the campaign on a harder difficulty see how well I do then go to multi-player! I will also be sure to install Fuel of War when I get my %^~@#$)($# disk-drive to work. Thanks everyone!

I ,the same, decided to to reinstall my Version of FoW which was a real Pain.delta578 wrote:I will also be sure to install Fuel of War when I get my %^~@#$)($# disk-drive to work. Thanks everyone!
You need to go though a way Time consuming Patch Procedure.
There are dozens of Patch for each Localications
and you first need to find the right Patches for your Country.
That are the Patches you would need to install in this Order.
I wrote them that you save a bit time if you decide to reinstall it again
Patch All to V.1.10 (more than 250 MB
Patch 1.1.0 to 1.1.1 (ca.90 MB)
Patch 1.1.1 to 1.2.0 (more than 900MB)
Patch 1.2.0 to 1.3.0 (more than 900MB)
The last 2 Patches are big Downloads because they are more like DLC`S (For Free
They contain a new Game Mode (Conquer),6 new Official Maps,Weapons,Vehicles/Bomber/Jets and other Gamefixes.
