About the Z-95:
It does kind of look weird ingame, if only because it's landing gear is always extended (something the screenies didn't really show). I have to go with what I have, though. I want to learn to model eventually (to do things like chopping off the landing gear), but not yet.
I kind of wanted to avoid the red markings, they kind of make it look Rebel-ish. But I am going to work on the skin a bit more- I agree that it's a bit crude.
Anyway, here's my new pirates and their weapons. Intimidating enough?

They're kind of greenish, going to make it greyer. Also, I think reskinning the Geonosian blaster to make it evil-spikier would be cool.

I might make one, for v2. Learning to import/export/edit models would prolly take me a while, and I want to at least get the first version out the door. So unless someone were to take pity on me and make one (I doubt it), the X-wing sans-animations will have to do for now.
EDIT: I like the "big visor" thing for the pirates, dunno which looks better:
With nose thingie -

All visor -

They both still look kinda Imperialish, gonna try to make some changes to suit.

I'd vote for number 2. It just looks cooler to me. Other than that, you could make them look less imperial by changing the uniform/material. Take out the breastplate and replace or expand it if you want armor. If you want them to look less organized and clean, then you can have them wearing separated pants and shirts and stuff instead of just a jumpsuit. Also, try changing the shade of black.

So, what? I'm thinking I'll put both in, with different weapons and whatnot. Pirates don't exactly have uniforms, I guess.
Expanding the armor and differentiating the top and bottom is excellent. I'll do that.
Map-wise, after I get these guys figured out, all that's left is getting the capital ship's battle to work (as described here). I'm going "True health", the most people voted for it.

It's really easy to do actually. Like on my Rebel rad trooper skin. You just have to get a good face to put on (there are quite a few in the Rebel assets), then paint over it with a certain color you like. Then take that portion you just painted, and make it semi-transparent so as you can see the face underneath. Then just add an emboss effect on it to make it look shiny, and you're all set.Teancum wrote:what would be even cooler is to have a face behind the tinted 'glass'.
