Republic Commando
Hey, I've been kinda looking into getting Republic Commando since it's based mainly on strategy and tactics. My friend said it would be too hard for me, but I ignore him. He seems to think that I'm not up for the challenge, but I will prove him wrong.
Any suggestions or thoughts on the game?

Re: Republic Commando
Great game, worth a play through, but I would suggest playing it one difficulty down from where you would usually play a game on your first time thru. It plays a little different than a typical FPS, so you can't gang rush in or you'll get slaughtered. But once you get used to the gameplay it's wicked.

I wouldn't ignore your friend... Unless, of course, he only THINKS he's your friend and you really hate him. [/off-topic]
Okay, this game is actually really hard, but it's fun. I personally love it, and I don
t even have it. Some of the good things about it:
1: RCs. Nuff said
2: Customizable characters for splitscreen and mp
3: Trando Weapons
4: Sev and Scorch arguments. Funny as hell.
5: Levels are amazing
6: Around a year older than battlefront, but graphics+anims are so much better, ex. lots of bumpmaps and your squad limps when they're badly hurt.

Re: Republic Commando
I would definitely get it, once you get the hang of it you can play through it rather easily (on easy), and I would get it with Best of PC, because its five games (even if you have KotoR, Battlefront, JKO, or EAW) for the price of one.

Re: Republic Commando
Depends on
a: your hard drive space
b: graphics card
If your hardrive is low on space, XBox. If your graphics card is barely BFII-able or has bumpmap problems, get XBox. If you have siblings who wanna play it, get XBox. If you dont have an XBox, get PC. Otherwise, get either PC or XBox, yer choice.

Re: Republic Commando
The game is fairly short, but it is amazing. ( Wish I could get the bumpmaps to work, but it'll just crash the game :/ ) And, might want to really use your squad. Keep the squad alive, seriously, you'll need them to finish the game. And, you can run RC on your PC, even if it doesn't work with bumpmaps, just set them to low, just to clear up any confusion on that matter.

Re: Republic Commando
I played through it first on PC, but now own it for Xbox. It's about the same on both. So if you play a lot of FPS games on consoles it might be easier to go Xbox. If you're talking playing it on the 360 though I'm not 100% sure it's on the backwards-compatibility list.

Hey, I'm glad I saw this topic, I've actually been thinking about buying this game too next time I have a few extra dollars sitting around.
Edit: I just searched for the game on Google to see if I could find price ranges, and I noticed that a page said it is playable on the Xbox 360 with a downloadable patch.

I personally think this game is great. I beat it on medium without even knowing! You will really get into it and lose track of time. Fluffy basically mentioned all the good points about the game. It does get annoying at some points but that's what makes it challenging and fun. I do recommend getting it (I got it for the PC).

Re: Republic Commando
I played the demo and loved it. I plan to buy it cheap (10 $ and under). You should too. Don't buy RC for 20$ new (or used) fr 20 $ when you can get it new for 10$ USD.

Re: Republic Commando
something technical: if you have a geforce 8X000, you have to set the bumpmaps to the lowest setting otherwise the game will crash everytime you load a level

Re: Republic Commando
Definitely. There's also an easter egg on that level, too. Although the huge trando annoyed me.Teancum wrote:Heh, that mission definitely gets the adrenaline pumping!Darth Revan wrote:I used to get so scared of the first mission on prosecutor
