Paths or barriers?

Post by linksith »

Hi, I have been wondering for a while about this one thing. Do paths "over-rule" barriers? Say I have a wide barrier and a path going right through the middle if it. Would the AI still go through the part of the path with the barrier? I would like to know before I start putting a lot of work into a project that could be worthless. Thanks

As far as I´ve seen when making a map, if you place a barrier around a small object in the middle of a path, AI goes around the barrier and continues along the path, but if you place a big object with its corresponding barrier in the middle of the path it sometimes gets stuck. For example, AI got around columns and destroyed ATTEs and then continued along the path, but it got stuck with yavin temples despite the barrier around them. Surely someone more experienced than me can give you a better answer, but that was happened when I was making a map.

It depends what your barrier is for, for example if it's just set to flyers or huge then the units will go through it but if it's set to all including soldiers then they will stop in their tracks if you have a path going through the center of it.

Ok, here is an example closer to what I am trying to do: I have a wall down below that I don't want any starfighters to run into ,but far up above there is nothing in that location and I want the AI to go through that particular area.

In that case I would just set the barrier to flyers, and that shouldn't stop the units following the path.
