I was playing a Civ 4 mod as the Japanese, and lost two cities to the same giant spider before my samurai managed to kill it. That was embarassing, but memorable.

Which Civ 4 mod would that be? It sounds fun.plasmoidmonkey wrote:I was playing a Civ 4 mod as the Japanese, and lost two cities to the same giant spider before my samurai managed to kill it. That was embarassing, but memorable.
Oh yeah, I completed Half-Life 2, Episode 1, and Episode 2 all on the same weekend. I'm thinking of getting the original Half-Life now, and I also can't wait for Episode 3.
I just hope there are less zombies.....dear lord, the zombies......

Yay for the original half life. It was a great game but I never completed it.Ping wrote:Which Civ 4 mod would that be? The Extreme mod. It's okay, but Fall From Heaven 2 is where the real fun is at (Also, it was the first one with giant spiders). How about this fail:Ping wrote: Which Civ 4 mod would that be? It sounds fun.![]()
I ended up switching civs halfway through the game (there are 2 you can do that with in FFH), but then my old civ, which controlled half the world , declared war on me. Along with 3 other countries, so I was forced to wage a losing war of attrition as my six or so cities were taken one by one by the empire I created. The endgame was brutal.

I loved the zombie level in HL2, reminds me on the old resident evil games... wait, did I just mention there is a complete level in HL2 set in dark ruined city full with zombies?Ping wrote:plasmoidmonkey wrote: Oh yeah, I completed Half-Life 2, Episode 1, and Episode 2 all on the same weekend. I was also able to beat the Battle of Friedland scenario in Napoleon: Total War, without actually having to emulate Napoleon's maneuvers, though it is a little scary when you have all these Russian troops bearing down on you. *shudder*

I decided to buy Republic Commando through Steam yesterday (first new game I've bought since Battlefront II, I think, if you can really call RC "new"). Anyway, I've been having a blast playing it, and just completed the final section of Geonosis with literally one second to spare.

I remember that part, actually.Eggman wrote:I decided to buy Republic Commando through Steam yesterday (first new game I've bought since Battlefront II, I think, if you can really call RC "new"). Second most annoying thing in the game, if you ask me, but that was still cool. That's something usually seen only in Hollywood.

Yeah, it took me a few tries, so it did get to be annoying. The payoff was worth it though, since it definitely got the adrenaline rushing more than videogames usually do for me.Ping wrote:I remember that part, actually.Eggman wrote:I decided to buy Republic Commando through Steam yesterday (first new game I've bought since Battlefront II, I think, if you can really call RC "new"). Another fun Republic Commando story: I shot a Trandoshan and his jetpack malfunctioned, sending him flying upwards - not an unusual occurrence by itself. However, this unfortunate enemy just happened to be standing under a metal-grate walkway. Somehow he managed to get caught on the bottom of the grate, so he was essentially hanging there by the scruff of his neck. It was probably a glitch, but it was quite amusing.

Got through the original Half-Life orweekend, and I've now started Blue Shift. The enemies are pretty dang ugly and sometimes a bit scary, and this time, the Vortigaunts try to kill you.

As I continue my painful journey through the first Marathon, I encountered my first boss in the game today. After blowing it up with all my rockets I felt victorious! Then I came across another...and then two of them working together...and now I'm stuck (again).

Re: Post your recent gaming adventures
Sat down with some friends earlier tonight to play a few rounds of classic Super Smash Bros. on the N64. Once the group split up and everyone left, I popped in Episode I: Racer to play on my own. I think I almost enjoyed that more than SSB. It was the first game I ever owned, and it was a long-time favorite of mine when I was a kid. I hadn't played either game in years until now, so this was definitely a good night.

Over the past few days, I beat Lego Racers 2 again.
Beat "The Berg" in one try, he was always the hardest boss. (Rocket Racer always seemed to be the easiest.)

I was able to get through Half-Life: Opposing Force, by far one of the more difficult games I've played. Not much health and ammo to go around, and the enemies take so many hits to kill, unless you happen to be using a machine gun.

That's like one of my favorite video games, the only reason he's hard is because he cheats and drops spikes behind himself.kinetosimpetus wrote:Over the past few days, I beat Lego Racers 2 again.![]()

Re: Post your recent gaming adventures
Recently got back to playing Battlefield 2142 after installing the beta 1.51 patch. There aren't that many servers running the beta but hopefully the new maps including a community BF2 conversion of Strike at Karkand, is going to get a lot players back once the final is released. Much better than BFBC2 in my opinion.
