Hi. What do you think about the "supposed" release of SWBF3 in October? I personally do not believe it, as LucasArts did not announce it at that festival or whatever it was.

I think LucasArts are reeling over the mess over at Free Radical. We did have a "News and Sepculation" thread once but that got locked because there was no news. I think Elite Squadron may be an attempt to get our minds off BF3 for the time being while they sort this mess out.

Who said the release was in October? There was never even an official statement on the game even being developed.

Well, we looked on a video on Youtube which contained leaked footage which said it was coming out in October, although all my friends started saying it would be in October I doubt it.

Well then you're seeing something that's not actually part of the leaked clip. The original clip is HERE. Even if it had a release date on it, the clip was never supposed to be leaked, and could have simply been a 'target date' for Free Radical -- when they wanted to get it done. But there's not a chance it'll be out even within a year from today at this point. Though Lucasarts owns all the models, textures, etc -- Free Radical/CrytekUK own the engine, which means somebody else would have to rewrite the whole engine, or adapt their engine to this stuff and make it on-par with what people expect.

No, I'd say Christmas 2010 is the absolute earliest you'll see SWBF3, if we ever see it. We don't even know if anyone is working on it anymore. They can build PSP SWBF titles for much cheaper and still make good money, and I assume they will given how much $$$ they lost on development of SWBF3.

Seriously though, if there's no announcement there, it's not going to happen.

I don't think speculations are worth it when it comes to games, sure, posting your hopes about what it should be like if it ever comes out I can understand, but trying to make accurate predictions based on no official statements isn't a worthy cause.
