Soldier Animations

Post by Elmo »

I was wondering, If there is some place i can get my hands on some animations of soldiers fighting. (CW era) *If* I can find some cool anims of clones and droids fighting, I could add some more bridges in Mygeeto with anims of soldiers fighting. :P

what you can do to simulate this is add a lot of locals, and make them fight on the other bridges. The locals of course are the republic and the cis, but in diferent teams. The cps needed for them to spawn wouldn't count as objectives for conquest, so you would see the cps on the minimap, but they would be a "no-need-to-capture" cps.

EDIT: YAY DATIS MAI SEHKOND POZT!!!

There's a com_bldg_invisiblecontrolzone in your common folder, it's an "invisible" command post used for spawning locals. And there's a Local Side Tutorial linked the Everything-you-need thread.

Since this topic relates to animation, I might as well ask how can a modder switch back from BF1 poses to BF2 poses the units are in?

hmm, food eater, If i place those "invisble" Cps... will they show ingame? will there be that bar of light? And will it show up on the MIni map? (the cp)

If it does, I won't put Extra soldiers :P cause i don't want cps that aren't even accessible. :P

Nope, they're not visible, nor accessible. Otherwise you would know as them as "those darn uncapturable cps that those Gammoreans and Jawas spawn from."

LMAO

Elmo: If you don't want to see the hologram from the cps, just ground them, like, to -100 on zero editor, so they would apear on the minimap, and not on the surface, thus (is the term right for this situation?) making the map more convincing

Droideka, if you're thinking of using the SWBF1 animations - such as getting 'prone' ingame, I highly doubt it'll work.

in most other engines, the use of whihc animations will be played, wha tit'll be named and all that si hardcoded during the development. Of course it can be taken out, but it'll require the base-codes to implement that it should use the prone-animations.

The only thing I can think of - currently - is to rename the Prone-animations and overwrite the 'crouch' animations. Of course, it wouldn't be the same without crouch  but it's an option :)

And Elmo, is it ep2 clones? it's easy enough to use the 'ep2 clone' which was released (unofficially and unsupported  ) and I can rig it up with the battledroid model I've got, which me and OOM-9 made in the old days :P

in theory, I COULD make one big animation of them playing - but it'll require perfect animations and all that

but to be honest, I prefer locals fighting 'till death :D -Yock- said what we've all wanted for over a year; Street-fights in the background! :D

How about a skybox...

Capture a bunch of clones and droid fighting on a bridge(using fraps or what any other video capture tool). Make an object and find out how to put the video clips on the object. Put it somewhere distand(ofcourse, you'd need to make a new "movie" for bridges that would be at another location )

---
Loads of work and I don't even know if it's possible (I think not :P). But it's worth a tought I'd say.

I think Yock's idea with the locals fighting would be easiest and look the best, however, make sure you set it so that both teams are allied with you and the other side or else they will shoot you.

It would be cool to be shot by a droid with a sniper rifle thats not on the same bridge that you are

Sure you could replace crouch. But then you couldn't move when in prone. ;)

A method I came up with was just giving the unit that you want to have prone (or all of them, whatever) a combo file that includes prone when hitting crouch twice. Not too difficult to do, other than tricking the game into thinking that a gun is a melee weapon. (that would take some doing but I'll bet it's possible.)
