Re: Your opinion is needed
If it were split up, I would like to see: The original SWBF maps, with some new heroes (maybe the classic conquest mode) In the main DL, Bonus pack #1 would be KOTOR sides with Galactic Conquest included, and then all the modes and stuff.
Personally I felt the New Modes and maps, while nice in concept, really cluttered up my map list and even the stock map selection (for modes) I love the work done on the mod, but it's not even installed right now, for simple lack of room. I need room to add my favorites on demand (including DT 2) (without having to close and restart bf2) test all of my own maps, and try out new maps without going over the mission limit. Modes like holocron I'd like to try, but I don't want to feel like I need it installed to play. I'd think the modes (and maybe KotOR) would be sitting in my addon 2 folder, while I'd keep the normal conversion pack installed. Also I know a couple of other people have pretty horrible internets and can't get it simply because of size. Perhaps they could if it were trimmed down from the whopping 750 MB that it is.
Another thing to consider is all the swbf conversions that have been sprouting up lately. There are so many different versions of all the maps, it'd definitely be nice for those of us that play online to have one definitive conversion pack, thus allowing us to become unified as one!
Edit: YES! Finally the polls are fixed! All is proceeding according to plan :vader2:

Re: Your opinion is needed
Like many have said before in the topic there truly is a lot of brilliant stuff in the conversion pack but personally i only played the BF1 maps converted along with Concord Dawn and the Kotor Era in Conquest mode. The extra options are always great but they take up so much room that when it came to other large mods like Dark Times 2 i had to uninstall it because my computer couldn't deal with the amount of space it took up.
Voted Bonus pack.

Re: Your opinion is needed
Zerted brought up a good idea in private staff discussion: Since addme.lua powers whether a mode actually gets added to the pool of 500 missions, we could also do an installer option to choose the addme.lua you want.
Given the votes so far, it might go something like this:
On a different note, Classic Conquest is in the middle of a major update, being built up on the Xbox. For those feeling like it still wasn't close enough to SWBF1, just wait. Flyers have been improved immensely (for instance, no more huge swing of the camera when turning), and bugs such as Recon Droid problems are already fixed. Units will have the option to roll in any direction (in SWBF1 roll replaced jumping when you strafe), but two rolls will fully deplete the energy meter, meaning you can't spam it. Nothing else uses the energy meter. AI heroes will keep SWBF2 combos, but will not have any force powers; jump, choke, sprint, push -- they're all gone. That means they'll act similarly to SWBF1, except that they'll occasionally do a jump attack (but not a Force Jump), and they'll have varied animations. Still no prone, flyer strafing, or SWBF1 team commands, sorry.
Given the votes so far, it might go something like this:
- Only the SWBF1 levels, KotOR stuff (including levels), Alderaan, and Ord Ibanna would remain as part of the pack. Custom legions would probably be cut, and vehicles/heroes would be trimmed down to what's "necessary". Zerted is looking into doing a v1.4 patch with increased modding functionality, so it would be included as well since the Convo Pack requires it to run. Cutting all this out would save users over 300mb on the install, and would probably cut 70mb or more off the download size. All missions for these levels would remain as-is. (see next list item)
- The installer could have three options for your addme.lua (all other files would be installed in case you change your mind later): Lite (just the maps, KotOR era, Classic Conquest, and no more than 4 modes per map), Medium (which would add Order 66, Holocron and possibly the multiplayer-only Duel mode from the Xbox mod), and Full (which would install every mode we ever made for these maps)

Re: Your opinion is needed
I can't really put in a vote because my opinion is different from the choices. I think the boring maps should be removed. The maps I consider to be boring are without powerful vehicles, fortified bases, lots of open space, and lack creativity (example: Raxus Prime). Concord Dawn was a pretty good map because it had paths behind the tall hills, a small town in the valley, and in a special mode, where it was designed for you to to to the higher part of the map, there were lots of vehicles and powerful weapons. So Concord Dawn was quite creative.
So if I were to vote, I would say get rid of the boring maps.

Re: Your opinion is needed
I really don't think that it even needs all this splitting into packs. What I do about the 500 mission count is keep a folder on my desktop called Game Mods and Files, and inside that I have a SWBF2 folder and inside that I have all my favorite maps in folders labeled by author. For example C:\Desktop\Game Mods and files\SWBF2\Rends\MOS so, I can keep the Convo pack 2.2, DT II, UB: TCW, the Rebel Ops Missions, and my other favorite maps in the game without exceeding the limit. Then when I want to play a map from my folder, I take UB: TCW out, put the map in and play. Then when I'm done, I take the map out, put UB: TCW back in, and put the map back in its appropriate folder. To sum it all up, I don't think that the pack needs all this effort put into it being put into smaller packs, a newer version with all the content that v2.2 had, and some bugfixes, would be nice, but even If it does get split into smaller packs I'll simply delete v2.2 and install the main and ALL of the packs, so it being in packs would be redundant to me.

Re: Your opinion is needed
You know, I'm going to be honest here: I almost never play the Conversion Pack anymore. I keep it in my addon folder as a memento; its like a bobblehead that I bought, but it no longer makes an impression on me. I probably could be better off deleting the whole thing, and filling my addon up with other maps. Not to disparage the pack or the work put into it, but I just lost the interest in it.
If I did play the Conversion Pack more often, I would vote: Cut out everything that's mentioned above, but release all the other stuff as a separate download (aka a "Bonus Pack")

In my opinion just keep the SWBF1 levels, and the KOTOR era as part of the pack. In regard to a bonus pack, I would prefer a select few maps like the Endar Spire, Alderaan and Ord Ibanna including the KOTOR era but with reduced modes, maybe two or three at the most. I also think you should keep the extra clone legions which added variety other than the stock sides.

The poll isn't working for me...
If it is split into lots of bonus packs (so you could pick and choose the parts you wanted) then:
Cut out everything that's mentioned above, but release all the other stuff as a separate download (aka a "Bonus Pack")
Otherwise I'd vote just BF1 and KotOR. (But fix Revan)
I'm intrigued by this installer idea. How far can it go? Could you have one of those little tickbox lists that some installers have, where you can choose which individual parts you want? It would mean writing alot of addme luas though.

Space is an issue on my computer (and likely many others), and having alot of space-heavy files that aren't doing anything wouldn't be the best from my point of view.all other files would be installed in case you change your mind later

I think it would be a good idea to make separate packs (ex. BF1 Pack, KotOR pack, Big Maps pack). I find this a good idea because I'm fine without the big maps, and so I don't have to take out the entire convopack when freeing up some space in my addon folder.

Re: Your opinion is needed
Just trim down the number of missions, please. I can't fit the Convo Pack, Dark Times II, BFX and my favorite maps in 500 missions!
I love everything in the convo pack, with the exception of Haruun Kal, Raxus Prime, and Ratattak (did I spell that right). So i'm kind of for removing the big maps, but their is too much Hero Assualt and HCTF! I would much rather see a few of those removed than Concord Dawn.

You just contradicted yourself. You said first to cut out the SWBF1 and KOTOR then said to keep them.Jendo7 wrote:Cut out everything that's mentioned above, but release all the other stuff as a separate download (aka a "Bonus Pack")

Re: Your opinion is needed
That seems to sum most of it up. At this point I think it goes without saying that Haruun Kal, Raxus Prime, and Ratattak are getting cut should we update the pack. The question to all of you is would anyone miss them? Two of those are my maps and I'll admit they're really huge and not that fun, and the other is utterly bug ridden. I'm sure we can save Concord Dawn, and I actually have several ideas on how to do so based on tricks I use on the Xbox. We will be able to allow flyers to go higher, too without seeing the edges of the terrain.Faceman2000 wrote:I love everything in the convo pack, with the exception of Haruun Kal, Raxus Prime, and Ratattak (did I spell that right). As far as Hero Assault and Hero CTF how many maps for each do ya'll want, and what maps? For variety I think it might be best to have one or the other on a given map, and in my opinion have only 3-5 instances of each mode max. For that matter, tell us ya'lls opinions on Holocron and Order 66 -- how many should we have, and on what maps? Maybe we can trim it down if you all only want 3 of any given new mode, and only one era in that given mode (so either CW or GCW Holocron, for instance... not both).

Re: Your opinion is needed
I've always found Order 66 unbalanced - I wouldn't care what happens to it.
Haruun Kal...the visuals are nice, but it's just too big. Otherwise, I probably would like it. Same goes for Raxus Prime.
Rattatak....I kind of liked the GT and and hunt modes in there, though there always seems to be a bug that makes it look like you're going backwards on the minimap. I'm split right down the middle for this one.
If we do keep HCTF and hero assault, I'd let Arena, Cloud City, and possibly Platforms keep HCTF. I'm indifferent to what gets regular hero assault.

I agree with Fusion. That seems like an ideal number of modes. For Felucia Hunt though, I don't think a rainbows of acklays is very necessary. Just one variety available would be fine.

I would make an argument for one of the two hero modes to be on Yavin Arena. The map is small and plays well to heroes.

I actually forgot about Yavin Arena. Maybe take away one of the Citadel HA's and put it on Yavin.
Oh, and that rainbow of Acklays is totally necessary. I don't know why, for some reason it makes it more fun than it is.

Re: Your opinion is needed
Well, I'd like to see some improvements to the maps, whether or not you release in a seperate pack.
Bespin: Cloud City
What annoys me here is that the lighting is terrible. Looks nothing like the BF1 lighting. Come to think of it, there is no lighting. I can barely feel immersed if my blasterbolts don't have a visual effect on the surroundings, or without the Bespin-esque orange-ish tinted lighting.
Space Rakata Prime
I think the Star Forge is too small. Make it BIGGER, and then place the battle right above it, like at the end of KOTOR1. That is all.
Alderaan
This map...I just think it currently looks TOO much like stock Bespin: Cloud City. New models would be nice, but only if you are actually modifying anything.
Rattatak: Arena
This map is nice, but I would like some more visual reaction such as better lighting when a blasterbolt flies by a solid object. The overall lighting is nice. Pleas fix the serious texture issues (missing textures everywhere).
Raxus Prime
I used to love it, now I hate it. The size isn't necessarily a problem if there were more objects and more cover. The only way I currently have fun in this map is by getting on a speeder and running over everyone.
Methlyn: Ruins
It has wonderful gameplay. A fallen log wouyldn't hurt much, but whatever. Lighting could be a bit more creative. The stuff that really gets me is the snowy textures on the props (Rhen Var) and the missing textures on the lights, which makes it harder to see in the base. Otherwise, good the way it is. Grass foliage helps too.
Concord Dawn
Love this map. Still is fun even now. My nags: The Tatooine props. With all the beautiful custom props lying around, I'm frequently disturbed turning a corner in a canyon and being in Mos Eisely. The props are fine, but the models could use some different textures. Lighting is alright, but the ground texture is too big. Perhaps splotch the terrain with some hirez texture but keep same basic texture. All up to you. More cover, please.
Tatooine: Dune Sea
I would like the lighting to be correct in a converted map for once. The gameplay is just as good as any other BF1 map, though. I remember a missing sound SOMEWHERE, but I can't precisely remember where. Smbience would help all the maps btw.
Endar Spire: Interior
Strangely enough, I have some nitpicks here. First is the collision on the windows. I don't like to see my shot that was fired at a window pane keep going and going and going and going and going and goi.... I also don't like to be able to fly out the window. Also, the colorful stars annoy me. Also, that table-thing that escapes me, its bad collision is dangerous to players and AI alike.
Haruun-Kal: Jungle
I wish we had lighting here, too. The stuff looks weird when it doesn't mesh with its environment. By the way, retexturing the tusken huts would go a long way to making it look unique. Add more cover (fallen logs, rocks, etc) in the jungles. Also, I cannot see when I am in a flyer when it is raining. Anything you can do to help that is much appreciated. Ambience would be GREAT here.
Rhen Var: Citadel
The lighting could be better. The snow on the props and the snow on the ground don't match, I would suppose it would match more if you put in a more nighttime lighting. It's been done before, with good effect. Also, add the fog so when you look out off the edge, you don't see the lowrez terrain and the akward cube of terrain in the distance. A fog effect like on Felucia or the BF1 Citadel would be suitable. Ambience would help here, even the stock Hoth ambience.
Naboo: Prototype
I realize this is a test map. But a different name would be nice, though it's okay as is. Ingame, though, there are so many things wrong with this. It needs foliage, better tree models, lighting, and ambience. The BF1's stock Naboo: Plains lighting would do wonders for this map, I think. Also, for the KOTOR era, there are missing sounds and textures for the turrets/blaster bolts respectively. The KOTOR era needs vehicles, Just a thought. They used tanks back then.
Naboo: Theed (Daytime)
I see this in the Galactic Conquest and the Classic Conquest modes. The lighting is TOO BRIGHT on the ground textures. Just. Too. Bright. Needs ambience, too. Try, say if you don't mind being a bit different, an evening lighting environment. I've never seen that done right before on a Naboo map.
Naboo: Plains
Perfect. Just perfect. Feels like BF1. That's good.
Geonosis: Spire
Ok. The lighting looks like you just took the BF2 Geonosis lighting and slapped it on here. And it looks terrible. The colors of textures don't match because of this. Just make the lighting more like BF1, and if not, choose lighting that best blends the textures. +1 for already having ambience. Bastila Shan from KOTOR looks like an old lady, btw. Make a better model and get a cookie (my undying gratitude).
Ord Ibanna
This needs ambience and a better skydome. I feel like I'm on Neptune and not inhaling oxygen. The clouds would look better if they were actually white (water vapor). By the way, is it some inside joke or something on the classic conquest thing for that map?
That's my input. Be sure to not forget the less-than perfect KOTOR units and ambience for the maps. Good luck, and I still appreciate it for what it is.
