No, the end of the story should be:
And then all the former fans of LucasArts marched upon Skywalker Ranch and took their revenge!

I like that one better :D

Look. I'm sure all of you were expecting BF3, (Or something really amazing) and were let down when they didn't announce it, but BF3 isn't there only concern. I've been on the Steam forums, and they're jumping for joy at the thought of it. LucasArts is a company, and they need to get money just like everyone else. What if they're falling apart and instead of using money to manufacture new games they need money to survive? That's a great reason to reintroduce old games to attract already fans and new players alike. And you can't go around saying LucasArts fails for not giving you something they didn't even think about when they announced they were announcing something! It's not like they're recalling BF2 or shutting down the online multiplayer! If anything, GameToast will get MORE publicity, MORE members, and MORE mods / maps.

I also had this thought. If they patch BF2 on Steam with the Conversion Pack, will you STILL be mad?

A great way to never be disappointed is never to expect anything, and be surprised at everything.

I like this attitude, and shared many of those thoughts (even if I am admittedly disappointed for having my hopes gotten up). Goodness knows I would love to see some more mapping and modding activity, and it's certainly a benefit that games like SWBF2 can be bought from an actual retailer instead of at ludicrous prices at Amazon.com. I hope that this is the first step in LA releasing more of their back catalog; I know there are some older games that I would love to try were they more available.

Indeed  I guess we were all hyped for SWBF3, but to be honest I've played about 95% of these games, and getting these 'classics' (dunno how SWBF2 is a classic, but more players via Steam is always good) back out to audiences who may have never played them is smart, plus it's a relatively cheap way to increase revenue for Lucasarts, meaning they have more dough to make more/better games.

I guess even though I was disappointed there's still a lot of good to come from this.

Well, it's not exactly a bad thing, I actually was dissappointed, not because I had my hopes up (I highly doubted it would be SWBF3, and, in fact, hoped it wouldn't for my own reasons) but because of some reason that I can't actully remember now, but it had something to do with multiplayer. Although, after reading Food's post, I actually think I agree with him. Hey, who knows? IF SWBFII sells well enough, the Convo Pack could be released on steam.

There's already been an influx of people to our (HiddenArrows) server, at least. Some of them are idiots who won't listen as you tell them the rules, but a good few of them seem like perfectly nice people who just bought the game because they heard it was good and are willing to learn how to play (the way that most people find acceptable, that is).

Anyway, hello revitalized Battlefront II; sort've.

It would be nice if they made an XP compatible Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2, unless they already are, in which case I need to get on buying them.

If I'm not mistaken, someone mentioned how to make it work on xp somewhere. I don't know, was it in this thread? My memory is horrible.

The first round of games, eh? Well then, I hope they put the games I'm really wanting (JK series, KotOR, EaW, etc.)

I would really like it if they put the JK series via direct download. I've never played 'em, but they look good.

But I have a question, since they are putting these games for direct downloads, I'm guessing we're gonna still have to pay for 'em, it's not going to be like free or anything, right?

I think AQT and Teancum provided a link to a page that tells you how to get DF to work. As for as I know, I think Jedi Knight 2 works fine on XP (but my new graphics card update has made some old games not work properly, so I could be wrong).

A friend got DF to work on Vista. He helped me with it to, but I forget how he did it. It runs on DOSBox, which emulates older systems I guess.

And If anyone re-buys BF2 on Steam, try to get a mod working. There's some people having trouble getting mods to work on the Steam forums.

I think this is a cool idea, giving audiences a chance to play old games that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else!

I'm really excited to see if they re-release SWBF1, it's kind of a dying game,, but with support from steam, it could become popular :D

Hmm, so the game's 20 bucks on Steam. Seems a little steep to me still. 15 I would pay, but not 20. In fact, I'd loooove to have it for 15 so I wouldn't have to keep the CD in all the time. The one issue I can see is that ZE might not be able to verify the steam installation, and so the tools wouldn't ever work correctly. Probably not the case, but who knows. Maybe the Steam forum guys have tried - anyone know?

From the Old games that you like topic:

It worked for me and I have the Super Sampler edition.
I would also recommend DarkXL (currently in development, but mostly works)
