Yeah, that's what I was pointing out earlier. If Free Radical hadn't gone under, I'd buy the "viral promo" even if it weren't LA's style:Teancum wrote:There's a really small part of me that thinks it was part of a viral marketing concept, but I dunno -- they wouldn't close up Free Radical if that was the case, they'd buy it up.

Re: Battlefront III News
Worst.Idea.Ever. How the heck are we supposed to recreate a map from mere seconds of footage, and shoddy footage at that? It's not possible, even putting aside the fact that you can't take something next-gen and try to put it in last-gen. What you saw in that footage was the product of hundreds on hundreds of hours for the map alone, not counting the units and vehicles running around.revanshan wrote:What modders could do in the meantime (cause at least we have a pair of months left) is try to reproduce in maps what we've just seen.
No. Just... No. I'm shutting this one down now. If all of the most experienced modders banded together to work on these maps we would never be done until loooooooooooooong after SWBF3 is released, even if it's not released for two more years.
Don't ever request crap like this saying it's "Easy" without having gotten your hands really dirty working on a mod or map. You have no idea what you're talking about, and if I knew Iwasn't acting out of being upset I'd slap you with warning #3.
This kid is NOT a developer. It's very obvious by the demeanor of his language that he's someone trying to get attention. Look at the second post for goodness sakerevanshan wrote:Info sources.

I'm with Tean. More proof that he's a fake: c3p0 rep hero? Yeah right. He couldn't fight at all.

Re: Battlefront III News
lesovikk said he won't do it now after he heard what Teancum said. And I also agree with Teancum: requesting stuff like that and saying it's easy is quite frankly, rude to all the modders. I've just started modding, and it's hard (I can't even figure out how to change th terrain!). If modding were easy, then I'm pretty sure 99% or 100% of the people at GT would be modding.revanshan wrote:lesovikk1 wrote: ... i thought about making the space map to land

Yeah, because I've tried to do modding a couple times before and I can not make heads or tales of it.

Actually there are a couple of Death Star maps where you take off in Yavin IV Massassi temple and get into space.

I would go ahead and say it's not even worth trying, they've probably gotten hundreds of emails just like it, most likely replied with an automatically generated message.revanshan wrote:I've just sent an e-mail to Free Radical's press department. Asking for an official announcement.

Folly once again. Why would they change their minds due to your email. It's not like they're on the fence and all of the sudden they get your email and think, "You know what, he's right. We should make an official announcement."revanshan wrote:Not in my case.Taivyx wrote:I would go ahead and say it's not even worth trying, they've probably gotten hundreds of emails just like it, most likely replied with an automatically generated message.revanshan wrote:I've just sent an e-mail to Free Radical's press department. As far as getting a hand-written response that's also doubtful, and if you do it's likely from administrative staff like secretaries and NOT the developers. The devs themselves don't have time to respond to every email, even though I'm sure they'd love to read some fan mail.

Yeah, I got that part, thus my reply. Did you read it all?

Re: Battlefront III News
Yeah, well no offense or anything, but as a web developer I hate getting emails like that, because if I could do something about whatever people complain about I already would have. Don't you think Free Radical would love to release what they have, or at least give out more info? They can't. Plain and simple.
I understand where you're coming from, but it ends up just bugging them rather than helping.

Don't cut to conclusions.. Battlefront III for PC and Wii could be developed by another company, like they did for the PS2/Wii Version of The Force Unleashed.

Re: Battlefront III News
No offense, Zerted, but I'm not sure I trust that information. I noticed at least two things thatsort of called out "rumor" to me.
and
Oh, and I laughed when I saw the BF Mobile
, it just looks... strange...
[Edit] Wrong Battlefront Mobile
.
The link they gave for "solidly touted" went to their own post about the rumor that Pandemic was taking it over, no "solidly touting" proof, in my opinion.Pandemic is now being solidly touted as Battlefront III’s final landing pad. The US developer created the first two versions before being bought by EA.
and
That just seems absurd, why wouldn't LucasArts publish the game? Yes, you could say that it's because EA owns Pandemic now, but I think that just takes away more credibility to the rumor that Pandemic is taking it over. The assumption now is that EA will publish the game.

I'm going to start posting this about once per page, because apparently there's a need.

Re: Battlefront III News
Yea, i have to question the credibility of that article (in addition to mirroring Tean's comment).
But seriously, having the basis of SWBF3 being a PS2 development of the game by Rebellion?? I'm sorry, that is completely counter-intuitive given the PC, 360, and PS3 platforms. I was not aware that Pandemic was bought out by EA. If that's true, maybe i'll have a little more faith in them (even if its the same staff).
