The absolute earliest I see this being released is this fall, May of next year seems to be a reasonable date though.

Uhhh, Pandemic made the two in the first place. I don't think that Pandemic is bad if they made the best-selling star wars games ever.

It's the "best selling Star Wars game ever" only because they're the only real shooters based on an already extremely successful franchise (Star Wars). No matter who made it, it would be a big hit (probably bigger if the engine was actually half way good). So yeah, I would have to hope that Pandemic doesn't take it over again. I dunno if I want to see Rebellion do it...not that I don't want them to, I just don't know have a good idea of if they're a good studio or not.

As for LA purchasing FR, that might actually be an option, but in this economic climate, I doubt they would go through with it. They would secure the TimeSplitters and SWBF3 material along with a whole slew of staff that are geniuses at this stuff, but LA's role is simply to contract and publish video games they have rights to. It would be a huge step for them to go from contracting out work to actually making it themselves. And like I said, that's a big financial gamble.

I don't actually care who does it, as long as it gets released and is a good one.

I would say a leaked video from a dying company is someone who spent a lot of time on the project and didn't want to see all his time wasted. By leaking the video, he can show others how much they were able to accomplished.

I don't think you could shoot from space down to the ground. It looked like a way to seemingly move from a 'ground map' into a 'space map' without a noticeable wait for a level to load. It would have been great if there was a space battle going on above and you could sneak ships past some space blockade to attack enemy forces on the ground. Maybe help those ground troops to destroy a grounded shield generator protecting a strong space ship... Now its just going to be a short, annoying video when you fly up/down really high/low.

The game was in development for over 2 years and had reached at least its alpha status. It wasn't pushed/rushed by any deadlines. I think it would have been a great, solid game. Now if it comes out, I think it will just be as buggy as swbf2 (was initially very buggy).

Oh well. Goodbye good swbf3.

Well of course. But remember, BF 1 was great, and BF 2 a rip-off, just copy-paste from BF I (+) a lot of incorrect things such as laser colors (-) features which made BF i great, ex: each superbattledroid when detroyed in BF 2 became a bunch of battledroid pieces, instead of superbattledroid in its case.
Even the LOTR Conquest mele smells like jedi combat from BF 2, as well as the maps, as they all need correcting. The Kashyyyk from BF 2 wasn't the Kashyyyk from the movie, and none of the other maps couldn't pass either. Size, position, number of x elements...
And once more in LOTR conquest, like in BF 2 and bF 1, the armies seem all elite. In Bf 2 for example, there was a dark trooper for each 7 guys, that's not reallistic, the whole battlefield looked overun by ARC squads. But watch the leaked preview from Free Radical... that doesn't happen in their Bf 3. I trust Free Radical more than Rebellion, and Rebellion more than Pandemic (and I trust Sega and Bethesda more than them all).
The games don't have to be realistic. Why do you think the ModTools were released? So the fans could make the game better. The thing that comes first in every game is gameplay, then graphics. Accuracy really doesn't matter too much. Also, if the maps were accurate as possible, BF2 would go up from being 3.8 gigs to about 5+ gigs. Also, in my opinion, BF2 is better than BF1, it's just more things were cut from BF2, that's all.

Agreed. I don't want to play a :quotes: movie replica :quotes: . That would suck. Everyone's all like "Oh this or that is inaccurate". Don't you think the developers knew that already??? They did that so gameplay would not suck, which undoubtedly it would, and there's no getting around that. Be thankful they used settings inspired by the actual locations and not "History Channel" recreations of the exact locales.

Sorry, I'm just really sick of this realism debate. I don't care who you are or what you say -- if the Battlefront games were recreations of the "actual" battles then the game would not be fun to play.

Remember that this site is designed to be a family friendly place, some parents may be opposed to that type of language.

On another note, I think that Pandemic made one of the best-selling star wars game of all time only for the reason that it was a expansive shooter based on the star wars series.
That's it, really.
If you were to take out the Star Wars aspect of Battlefront 2, it wouldn't nearly half as many copies as it did.

Not true, BF2 was a lot better than BF1.

Thats a viewpoint thing. If you think games are better than others based off of new features, graphics, and abilities, then BF2 was better. But if you think of games being better based on gameplay and in game work, then BF1 was much better.

I actually thought BF1 had smoother (and thus, better) graphics.

i thought they where both good just that swbf2 should of inluded all of the first maps and new ones. where as star wars battlefront 3 looks as if it gives a breath of fresh air to the battlefront series as it looks a completly different game to the series. also swbf3 puts the word *star* into star wars. Also the way the ships look in swbf3 it looks real were as swbf1 and 2 just look like they have been made out of card and paper but i suppose pandemic didnt have the tech. i suppose we have got conformation from lucasarts that there hiding somethin why take all those videos off of utube. But now with swbf3 never coming out the way it looks from the video that means another 1 of my hopes of dreams has died :(

Yeah, like for instance the X-wing and Y-wing, those ships are gray, not white.

Kind of with as a further elaboration on what I was thinking, I think there's a good chance Lucasarts may pull the plug on Battlefront 3 due to fading interest the Star Wars franchise.
Lucasarts is starting to branch off of Star Wars into other areas of gaming, with releases like Thrillville and Mercenaries 2.
They went with Force Unleashed, I think, not because it was Star Wars but because it was a game that brought something new to the table.
As far as I can see, aside from the now-dead ground-to-space combat, Battlefront 3 really isn't bringing anything unique and original.
