Switching Languages
A German guy I know wants to change the language of his game, so that all the German words are in English. He also would like to hear English voice-overs ingame. How would this work?

Re: Switching Languages
In order to change the language of the game, I think you have to change the language setting of the computer in Control Panel.

Re: Switching Languages
it doesnt depend on your languagesettings it depends on the version youve installed. the language of the shipped menus (not shure about custom ones and maplocalozation) depends on the .exe file. in order to have english ingamevoiceovers you have to install an english version of battlefront

Re: Switching Languages
Thank you.
I thought it was something like that. I can't just give him an english ingame.lvl file can I?

Re: Switching Languages
As far as I know the sound files aren't stored in the ingame.lvl...
Maybe it could work if you replace the global.lvl (data > sound) against an english one (I think this is the file where voiceovers and similar are stored in). But be warned: This file is about 750 MB big!
To change the language of menus, unit names and so on I think it should be enogh to replace the ingame.lvl with an english version of it. There is ne need to change the exe I assume. And I hope - an english version of the exe won't work with the other files, because it's a compeltely other version (look at the patch 1.1, there is an international DVD, a domestic and an english cd version, every one for different versions of the game).

Re: Switching Languages
Probably the best...
By now the game is already rather cheap.

Re: Switching Languages
That's strange... ok, maybe version 1.0 works but I'm pretty sure that an english v1.1 exe won't work with a german game.
But OK, Learning never stops
