How do you make crazy 'fractals like that?

GIMP 2.6 has a feature that allows you to do it. DL it and find a tutorial. Actually, I think there's a link to one a couple pages back.

Argh, I'm making a flame, but I have a laptop that easily overheats and it's taking like an hour per flame!
