Missing _lvl_pc Folder [SOLVED]

Post by RC-1309 »

I have probably been playing SWBFII since the day it came out, but I'm new to modding for about a week or two now. I have made a few test maps (using Fierfek's Guide) but when I munge the file to test it in-game.... or try to package the mod for a release.... i realize that I am missing the _lvl_pc folder in my map data folder and with it the core.lvl and misson.lvl files... I followed the instructions but I don't have them..... can anyone help??

So to make it short... i am missing the mission.lvl file... does anyone know why??

Also... when you munge a mod for the "final" time to test it in game.... where do you remove it??

Could I be missing the mission.lvl files... because of Vista???
Because Fierfek's guide shows him using Vista but he has no issues....

Fierfek's tutorial has some flaws. Your map is located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon. Look for the folder with the same name as your mod ID. That's your map.

Missing Core and Mission LVL

Post by The_Fett_Squad »

I went to the path you told other people to go if they were missing lvl_pc(...appdata/local/virtual store/program filesx86[program files itself didn't work]/Lucas Arts/Star Wars Battlefront II/GameData/Addon and then my map. However, I couldn't find Core.lvl or mission.lvl inside the _lvl_pc folder there. Do you know what the problem is?

You have to munge your map first before it can actually appear.

Ah, yeah, haha. I had always used the harder method of packaging my map because I could never find my map in addon (I had the problem where it munges to virtual store), so this was the only way I knew how to do it, until recently.
That will be changed in the next version.

Just to clarify, you munged from your map's _Build folder? (data_ABC/_Build, not data/_Build)

And when you munged, how long did it take?

You extract to BF2_ModTools and then run the file "vistamungefix.bat" that is inside BF2_ModTools\vistamungefix.

Once you do this, every new map will be fine, but old maps will not be fixed.

nope... i ran it in:

C:\BF2_ModTools
C:\BF2_ModTools\data_(map name)
C:\BF2_ModTools\data_(map name)\_BUILD

and i ran it a few different ways... sometimes in or outside the folder

btw... the munger gave me 'new' text

\Common was unexpected at this time.
Munging addme.lua...done.

"C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData"

Copying "core.lvl" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "RWN" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "SIDE" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Munge process finished

before it said...

and when i try to run the map in BFII it first off shows up as (3-Letter map name)%s_%
and when i try to play it i get a fatal error saying...

"Could not open mission.lvl"

Woah there. The file changes certain files code. If you run in the wrong directory, it will probably mess up your game further. Do what I said:

Frisbeetarian wrote:BF2_ModTools\vistamungefix
If it still doesn't work, reinstall your ModTools and run it from the correct place, and no other place, because you probably messed them up by running the file from the wrong folder.

It's the same message, you're just getting more of it.
