Wouldn't work right. In capital strike, I remember that you could still fire when you are in a hangar. I would prefer it if I could do that, but I can't.

Re: Adding water to space maps
Filling an entire map with water causes a map to crash elfieSeriously, if what you are trying to do is have a dogfight over an ocean, make a new ground map, raise the max fly height, follow the adding water tutorial, fill the entire map with water, have two capital ships with aircraft vehicle spawns placed above the water, and if you want space assault rules, adjust the lua to fit your needs, munge and play and there you go, see isn't that much easier?
Yes, since they are props they would work. And you can land on the ouside.Do capitals work in ground maps?
Still great idea, just a ground map with caps and frigates, plus the space luas.. Would work?

Landing regions, my friend. There may not be a topic on gametoast on how to add landing regions though, I'm not really sure.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Wouldn't work right. In capital strike, I remember that you could still fire when you are in a hangar. I would prefer it if I could do that, but I can't.

Funny, I've done most of that with my second ICW map....difference is that there's Icebergs and Drilling platforms instead of capital ships.elfie wrote:Seriously, if what you are trying to do is have a dogfight over an ocean, make a new ground map, raise the max fly height, follow the adding water tutorial, fill the entire map with water, have two capital ships with aircraft vehicle spawns placed above the water, and if you want space assault rules, adjust the lua to fit your needs, munge and play and there you go, see isn't that much easier?

1:No, they don't, actually. I made a map that's completely full of water. It crashes, but thaat's because I messed up the sides.NullCommando wrote:Filling an entire map with water causes a map to crash elfieSeriously, if what you are trying to do is have a dogfight over an ocean, make a new ground map, raise the max fly height, follow the adding water tutorial, fill the entire map with water, have two capital ships with aircraft vehicle spawns placed above the water, and if you want space assault rules, adjust the lua to fit your needs, munge and play and there you go, see isn't that much easier?![]()

2: That's true, but you couldn't land because of water.
3: LAck of automatic landing regions, which I still cannot place!

MNCc_1flag1 --- should be MNCc_1flag, without the extra 1. See if you can find where that is.

Re: Adding water to space maps
I fixed that part already. It still crashes, even though I got some help. Probably the water is making it crash.
Okay, I did the one thing that seemed to make sense with the spa6c_cmn.lua and it still crashes.
The only message severity three:
The LUA:

What you could also use instead of water is Kamino water because its a prop (or at least it looks like it).

Well, that's too dark, it's supposed to be like Mon Calamari. There's that, and ships can go through it, and it is only a surface.
If someone could fix that, I'd definately use it.

Retexture it and add a death region going through it.

Re: Adding water to space maps
Death regions aren't 100% reliable. I would recommend having a damage region and set all the numbers to 1000. It'll kill anyone off. Plus you don't have to touch the LUA.

Oh, goodie! I hate LUA work!
... But Either way, I need to restart the map. I completely killed it. Not only that, but I need to reinstall the modtools, as well, since they're installed incorrectly.

Re: Adding water to space maps
I hardly consider placing a region, giving it a name in "Class Properties" then adding 1 line in the LUA as work, you usually have to go in your LUA anyway to edit other stuff such as sides and what not so I don't see it as an inconvenience at all, and deathregions are 100% reliable because i've never met a deathregion that didn't kill me.

Re: Adding water to space maps
1. You got me confused. If you have water and you want it to be realistic then you need a death region, on the other hand, let me make sure I am following you correctly: You want a map consisting of two cap ships, placed above water, with all the units spawning in the hangar and there will be aircraft only, right? Well in that case you don't need one because when aircraft hit water they explode and die.Fluffy_the_ic wrote:Well,

2. 1.Place a medical droid in Zeroeditor at the bottom of the ocean. The medical droid can be found in Common/odfs
2.Go to instance properties and type in a redicoulusly large number in radius.
3.Go to common/odfs and open com_item_healthcharge and change maxhealth to -1000
4. munge
5. Your done

Re: Adding water to space maps
Why have a medical droid?
Also I beleive we decided on the prop ocean not water, but thanks for reading.

Re: Adding water to space maps
Because if it was underwater you wouldn't be able to see it, also regardless of whether or not it is an ocean prop or actual water, you may still need a damage/death region, although, since there would be no ground units in this map, it would be unnecessary.woner11 wrote:Why have a medical droid?
