Attaching Effects to Weapons

Post by wazmol »

Hey all,

i tried to attach an effect that i created to a weapons hardpoint (hp_fire1) and (hp_fire2) with this command in my odf:
AttachEffect = "waz_sfx_staff_lightning"

AttachToHardPoint = "hp_fire1"

AttachEffect = "waz_sfx_staff_lightning"

AttachToHardPoint = "hp_fire2"
but nothing shows up ingame, is there a way to be able to do this so my effect shows up ingame attached to my weapon, at all times?

thanks in advance

Use a trail effect, think someone said they worked before for melee weapons

Just a normal trail effect, try adding one with an effect, if it works, then jump with glee :runaway:

Have a look at the attached effects (or lights can't remember off hand) doc that is in the documentation folder it explains it quite well how to attach effects and lights and the lines that need to go into the odf.

From experience though I have tried attaching things to weapons (mines and det packs notwithstanding) and have had very little success. I tried attaching a light beam to try and make it look like a rifle has a flashlight mounted to it using both the odf and effect method and I have met with very little success but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. Oh one other note the light effect will attach itself to a weapon if it is just put into the game as a prop so it does attach but just not if it is a weapon.
