Mapping contests

Post by fiddler_on_the_roof »

i think that since now we have a upload file function here, we should start having our own mapping contests, not just having to participate in swbf files mapping contests.

Why?

I mean, think, what would be the purpose to have one next to the one on filefront? Filefront has a bigger audience and, more importantly, more modders contributing to it, so I find that contest "better", in a way.

Though if you mean to start a different one, you can try that, but it's been suggest a trazilion (not a word?) times and no one has ever managed to actually get it to happen (maybe in the past, but not since I joined)
I mean, if you succeed, I may, or may not, participate, but I don't think a lot of people will do this as well. (making 2 maps in such short periods = quite a lot of work)

I believe there used to be a separate forum on here for the purpose of setting up contests, and nothing ever really came out of it. In the time I've been around, there was one contest with one entry.

Also, even if the contests are hosted by SWBFFiles, Gametoast is still pretty closely tied to them considering that a large number of entries are submitted by members here.

All of SWBFFiles staff is comprised of GT members; while it is still in the FF network family, as far as I am concerned I consider it just an extension of GT (and by proxy the SWBF2 modding community). It is a more visible arena for showing off mods, which is why we use that to draw attention for modding contests.
