This is a guide for making jedi on coruscant.
First thing, open up C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC
and copy the MISSION file to another folder. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TWO MISSION FILES before you go on. Open up your copied version of the MISSION file with your hex editor. Then press Ctrl+F on your keyboard. There should be a search screen. Search for cor1_conquest. Scroll up until you see SIDE\rep.lvl on your screen. It shouldn't be very far up. Use a mouse wheel to scroll, it works best. If you drag the box on the side, it will go up or down way farther than you want it to go. This is where it gets tricky. Scroll down just a tiny bit until you see rep_hero_mace windu. Click right before the rep part and type in rep_hero_anakin. Do not delete anything leftover or anything period. After you are done typed in anakin, you'll be left with rep_hero_anakinndu. If you have hex edit workshop, it highlights your changes in red. Click right before the 6E64 section. Notice that there is also that the n is underline on the other side. Replace the 6E64 75 with 0000 00. This means your saying "nothing". As you type in the zeros, the ndu will change to three dots. You have just changed the hero on coruscant conquest mode form Mace Windu to Anakin Skywalker.
Next thing, you'll see rep_hero_anakin.........SIDE\cis.lvl. Change SIDE\cis.lvl to SIDE\jed.lvl
Right underneath is cis_inf_rifleman change that to jed_knight_01
Underneath that is cis_fly_droidfighter_DOME leave this alone
Underneath that is cis_inf_rocketeer change this to jed_master_02
remember to replace any extra wording with 00 on the hex code side
Save the MISSION file and you will be done.
Switch MISSION files and play coruscant on conquest mode.

Re: Hex Edit Help
check for spelling errors. Everything must be replaced letter for letter and perfectly. It should not be a problem if you did what you said.

Re: Hex Edit Help
Nope, I checked all the spellings about 50 million times, and there are NO mistakes!!
It STILL does nothing to the sides!!What am I doing wrong???

I even tried putting in a bunch of totally random letters (which should crash the game, right?), but STILL nothing happened what so ever!!!
Edit
I have found out what is wrong. The game is not even reading the mission.lvl file!!
What can I do to fix this and which file tells the game to read the mission.lvl file?
Edit2
PLEASE HELP!!! ANYONE!
I'M GOING MAD!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Dude, what do you want us to do? We aren't sitting at your PC, so we don't know why it's not saving over the old file. Aside from doing the obvious stuff like checking to make sure the file isn't set to Read Only there's nothing we can tell you.

Re: Hex Edit Help
Have you ever had a mission LVL installed before? If you had the mission.lvl that is hexed and then a backup and then you replace a new mission lvl with the edited one that you downloaded then it will not read the file.

Re: Hex Edit Help
So do I need to edit the original mission.lvl, not the copied backup?

Re: Hex Edit Help
Lol. Yes. The backup has to be un-modified. Thats what a backup always is.
After you did the backup, edit the original.

Re: Hex Edit Help
here are the steps
1. delete the edited one.
2. rename copy of mission.lvl to mission.lvl
3. make a backup of that.
4. hexedit
5. You are done.

reinstall star wars battlefront 2 is your only sollution if you want to continue hex editing. I know from experience. Once you screw up your mission.lvl you cannot unscrew it.

Lol: that's what I did earlier today! Anyway, I have two questions:reinstall star wars battlefront 2 is your only sollution if you want to continue hex editing. I know from experience. Once you screw up your mission.lvl you cannot unscrew it.
1) Does it matter which version of the game I'm playing on (e.g. 1.0 or 1.1)?
2) Deos it matter that I have the DVD version of the game?
Thanks

Re: Hex Edit Help
Ok, thanks dudes.
I've decided to give up Hex Editing and now I'm getting on with my mods.
Thanks anyway.
