Create and Edit ODFs With OpenOffice.org

Post by R8-Q88 »

While I was on http://www.fileinfo.com/ last night, I searched "ODF" out of curiosity, and it gave me a list of programs that can create/edit them. The free one on the list was OpenOffice.org by SunMicrosystems, the creator of the ODF. I downloaded it and tried it out, and it works great. (At least in my opinion.) So, without further ado,

http://www.openoffice.org/

Try it out yourself, and tell me if my discovey was good or lame, please.

It doesn't work: .odf is the extension of OpenOffice maths formules. .odf can be only opened using a text editor like Notepad++ or UltraEdit.

I would like to note that I have been able to edit ODF's with OO.org. ODF's, after all, are simply text files.

But you may run into the same problems that you would by using Microsoft Word. I believe it is something with the quotation marks, though I may be wrong.
In a nutshell, use Notepad or some other programming text editor

Notepad is, IMO the best program for editing ODFs, I can't see myself using anything different
