Star Wars Battlefront: The Old Republic Update 1/9/10

Post by YaNkFaN »

MASSIVE UPDATE

So this project is not dead (far from it actually) I've just been working on it quietly a little each night. School is really tough right now so its been a strain anyways here is an update.

Sides (nothing new I added a Vandar Tokare Hero but that's about it) worked on some icons as well
Maps (1 map has a completed campaign as well as a second has a halfway done one that I am currently working on). In total I have 3/4 maps with a possible 5th one that I may add in in the end not sure yet
Sound (this is where the biggest work went into). I am a fan of Star Wars music but I feel that the earlier episodes (ie I, II, III) have too refined music its too smooth and polished (except for a few songs). I wanted to make a new soundtrack for these maps which sounded more rough at the edges along with a dark theme. I have a lot of Hans Zimmer soundtrack CDs and with a little editing as per GT rules I have put together a collection of music that sounds like Star Wars but is a little less refined and has a darker more emotional feel. Some of the music used includes tracks from POTC, Angels and Demons, Star Wars obviously, and Kingdom of Heaven.

I also need or would like someone to do campaign voice overs (you need a mic) if you are interested PM me. Now on to pics.

As you can see I'm using weapons released here at GT if anyone has any new stuff they wish to contribute (i really need vehicles) i'd be more than happy to use them. For now enjoy the pics. Feedback is appreciated. There will also be a GCW era but no CW era.

Also if you are interested I occasionally put pics up here that are not on GT ( you can see some of the possible 5th map if you wish here

Here is a video i put together

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5e9a9JABSQ

if a staff member would be so kind as to embed it

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/W5e9a9JABSQ&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/W5e9a9JABSQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

thanks
also a cookie to who tells me the music for the trailer

Three things: I believe the Heavy Sith Trooper's armor should be more red-ish; I suggest you try experimenting with re-skinning those Rhen-Var buildings, it looks too much like Rhen-Var (at least to me); I love MAFs.:P

Looks very professional, as always, Yankfan. I wish you luck.

Looking good. The skins are very nice. I especially like the Republic Heavy Trooper and the MAF (great use by the way). Stupid question here, but shouldn't that water be frozen in the last screenshot?

actually no it's not i wanted some form of water i think it was the best environment element in the game to begin with so I try to include it whenever I can. There are little icebergs in the water to simulate ice but no you have to walk across the bridge in the water which i think is kinda neat. Also i will try reskinning the heavy trooper to be more red

I really like the look of this map, especially the water and the sunken ruins. Very original.

I can easily see that (get the V2 of the rockit launcher buddy  )

Now my question of adding KOTOR weapons is starting to waver...

Might I suggest the Rebel Gunship that mav used in Dark Times? I don't quite remember the name but it seems boxy, which is how I imagine old spacecraft.

You are fortunate to have a lot of visual reference for this (although I never think it's wise to do a mod based on mostly-unseen material) despite the fact that the game isn't available yet. It would be much better if you took those as references. For example, your troopers - note that using Rebel models and Sith trooper models is not the best choice:
