Off-topic : I am feeling sorry to contradict your above "Statements", PvtParts, but I do not agree about the fact that Lavasoft© Ad-Aware and Spybot - Search & Destroy can be considered as being "great tools", since they seem not to be that efficient and satisfying against recent threats (Such as the annoying "Scumwares" or even the growing "Rootkits" I have mentioned in my previous message...), contrary to other ones, like Sunbelt Software© CounterSpy™ or Webroot Software© Spy Sweeper, which have both proven that their different users could easily rely on them in any situation...

LOL. I dont know what you're implying with "questionable sites," but basically all i do is gametoast, myspace, and gmail. Don't think any of those are questionable. Anyways, I wanted to get a new hard drive because my computer didn't work well, not even after de-fragmenting (sp?) and re formatting. It always worked slow and it was basically crappy :S Hopefully when i get it back it'll work better. Hawky, I'm not saying that this is about believing, im just saying that if you think my technician is crap then you believe that, I don't really care about your opinion on this matter since non of you know it.(i tried to make that sound the best i could, but i didn't achieve my goal
) He's always helped my family for free, and has always solved out problems, so i trust his judjment.

I wasn't specifically targeting porn, no.
I was just getting at the fact that if your unsure about the site your on, theres probably have a good reason, and you should yeild to that feeling.
Off-Topic: Leviathan, no problem. Realistically, the tool thats best for you is just that, best for you. There are so many types of spyware's etc that, as ShadowHawk stated, arent always found with the same program. Through my use, I have been able to get all infections off my computer, but perhaps you have had different problems, and in that better luck with other tools.
Especially, for the price.
One thing I recommend, go to a forum such as: http://greyknight17.com/bb/index.php?PH ... 60faadbda&
and post a HijackThis log. Follow the steps they give you. They'll get it off your computer, I can almost guarantee (im not so confident to say I promise - it'd really kill my credibility to come out wrong in that)
It may take some time with to run all these scans (especially the online ones, oh my god). But it'll save you mucho money. And plus you wont have to reinstall everything.
Hope this helps, and seeing as how everyone in the world is throwing ideas in, chances are high you wont be needing a new HD

Well the point wasn't that he is crap, never meant it that way, just he didn't point you to other avenues other than wipe your drive. That is the typical text book response to any problem a call center tech can't fix, or fix within a certain call time. He should have pointed you to other avenues instead of "It's spyware. Get rid of all your MP3s, JPGs, BMPs, M4Ps, EXEs, ISOs, MPEGs, AVIs, Games, Applications, Family pictures, nude pics of your ex-girlfriend to send to her parents, passwords, favorites, Drivers,Patches, Windows updates, updates to windows updates, Update to updates to windows updates..." you get the point. A tech ALWAYS tries to save the data no matter how long it will take. Wiping a drive is a last resort when all else fails (or the customer just pissed you off). He may be a great tech, I don't know because I haven't met him, but I have seen many people say they are A+ certified and MCSE certified and it is a guarantee it is this problem, only for me to plug in the power switch the right way and it fire up. Didn't mean to piss you off J.J. and I apologize if I did.

Off-Topic: Bah dont worry about it bro.
I dont know what the other guys around here would say to this, but im pretty sure at least half of us has had our encounter with the wonderful world of P2P sharing. (oh hell im about to eat these words)
Anyway, its no big deal, and although limewire is technically illegal, as is all P2P sharing where full software/rights aren't transfered to the new user, I doubt anyone cares, and realistically its not even close to a priority for government, I mean that in that I highly doubt there will ever be a day the police come knocking about that. The only guys who they persue are the big sellers.

Off-topic : Well, Jabba', as far as I can tell, the conceiving of "Peer-to-Peer" Softwares such as LimeWire isn't currently forbidden, but their use and exploiting both remain in the opposite case, which means that this thread is in fact partially dealing with "Illegal Downloading", no matter whether this has been done voluntarily or not...

Whoa, did I miss something? About anything illegal mentioned on this site, even on grey areas, I care about. P2P is technically legal, but it is the technically I worry about. I do not want anyone talking about pirating, cracking, downloading unathorized music, even movies or porn (unless it's JJs pics of his ex
. I know, beating a dead horse). Rule of thumb: If you have questions about it, don't post it. Now the topic changed to P2P and was starting to go on a tangent, so Lev and I are bringing it up.

Off-topic : "Ironic" isn't the word I would have chosen in that precise case, and while we are at it, I have to warn you that "Philosophical" Discussions are not tolerated in threads similar to the current one, as the sub-forum it has been created in is basically intended to "Technical" questions, PvtParts...

Off-topic : I seriously hope that the current situation will last in the upcoming months, Jabba', but if the Technical Issues you faced recently have not been properly worked out by the "Technician" you entrusted your Computer to, then maybe you will be forced to replace additional Devices, which might be eventually expensive...
