Getting Skin In-game Help? [Solved]
Hi, I made a skin for a Episode3 Trooper and I have tried all the tutorials in the FAQs nothing works. I got passed the part where the it loads the level but its still the default skin. Now its not even loading the level its just crashing on the loading screen. Can anyone help please?
Some quick questions answered.
Yes I put dc: in the LUA
Yes the skin is .tga
No the RLE Compression is not checked
Yes I can view the model/skin fine in the SWBFII Mesh Viewer

Welcome to GT!
I see you're already acquainted with our friend the FAQ thread.
So, a bit of golden advice:
So, a bit of golden advice:
Post your Bfront2.log here (put it in hide tags - chances are it's big). It'll tell you exactly what's wrong. The FAQ Thread wrote:Question - I have the CD version of SWBF2 and I get a binkw32.dll error when trying to launch the BF2_modtools.exe, what's wrong?
Answer - The BF2_modtools.exe is the debug executable, copy it from the main BF2_modtools folder and paste it in the same folder as your battlefront2.exe, usually:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
then you can launch BF2_modtools.exe and play your map to get a BFront2.log located in that same folder.
If you have the DVD version check THIS LINK for a DVD version of BF2_modtools.exe
Note to Vista users:
If you can't find your BFront2.log it may be saved to this location:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData

Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
Your lua and skin are fine, you need to add the com_weap_inf_rifle_ord to the common folder, can be found in common folder under assets/sides. That should fix it.

Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
Actually, it looks like you didn't copy over the common sides folder at all. Don't just grab the missing odf, get the whole folder and copy it into your data_ABC/sides folder.Super_Clone wrote:Your lua and skin are fine, you need to add the com_weap_inf_rifle_ord to the common folder, can be found in common folder under assets/sides. Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
Ooh I knew I had forgotton something. I've tried doing custom skins for multiple maps and this being my newest I forgot to copy over the Common folder. Sadly though it still doesn't work.. It finally got past the loading screen. It gets to the choose team side and I see my skin under republic but not even 2 seconds after the loading screen it just crashes.

Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
What's happening is that there's a problem with the unit setup, probably somewhere in its odf or its weapon's odfs, and it crashes when the AI try to spawn as it. Could we bother you for an updated BFront2.log?

Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
Of course you need to, the answer has been in Xavious' post, which was generally ignored, and I seriously suggest the OP follow his advice over all the other answers given.lucasfart wrote:did you munge the common side??? or don't you need to?

Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
He has already copied over the common folder, and resolved that issue. The problem now lies here:bobfinkl wrote:Of course you need to, the answer has been in Xavious' post, which was generally ignored, and I seriously suggest the OP follow his advice over all the other answers given.lucasfart wrote:did you munge the common side??? or don't you need to?

Oh, my bad I must have skipped over/forgot that. He probably just needs to do a manual clean, of if not that what you suggested.

A manual clean isn't some kind of magic spell that solves all the problems. There are errors in the error log, and they won't just disappear because you remunged the map or sides from scratch.Delta1120 wrote:Just tried it and it didn't work. Still crashes.

Re: Getting Skin In-game Help?
If using vista you can just merge the folders without overwriting anything.Delta1120 wrote:Well I tried copying most of the REP folder still no progress. Its like taunting me by giving me a 2 second look at my skin before crashing.
Do you have xfire?
