Endor: Death Watch Bunker

Post by AQT »

Yep, the abandoned/unfinished map/idea that originally spawned The Exile's Voyage is now back and a whole lot better than before! :D This time there's actually something I'm proud of to call a workable interior. This version of the Death Watch Bunker on Endor is very loosely based on the one from Star Wars Galaxies but hopefully it will appeal to everyone. It will feature GCW conquest with stock Imperial and Rebel sides as well as hostile battle droids as locals. XCW conquest will show up if The Exile's Voyage is installed.

And here are some screenshots:

There will be an outside area but most of the battle will be fought in the inside of the bunker. A very special thanks to Null_1138 for his tunnel connecter; it helped out a lot! Of course, I'll have a proper credits list once this map is released.

Updates later on. :)

It looks neat. The Exile's Voyage sides will be the same as in stock Endor?

You ought to change that texture. It's out-of-place to start with (in that picture), but even if it weren't, those UVs are way too "zoomed-in" for that particular texture. If you're not making the model yourself, I'd just switch out that texture for a sandy texture that matches the walls in the foreground.

That's what I'm hoping at least for the Death Watch. If I get random side layouts to work there might be a twist for the Empire. :)

Because I'm nice, over 50%.

It could just be the angle of the picture but I'll fix what I can.

Thanks, guys!

Sorry Mav, I hate too be the one too disagree with ya, But the Deathwatch Bunker is almost that color of the sand tunnel. Just abit darker, and needs to be a brick pattern.

I'm not talking about the sand, I'm talking about the tiled grate texture.

OH! sorry, my fault, I miss the part where you said "for a sandy texture". In this case, I agree with ya.

Thanks, RSL!

Update: This map is coming together a lot sooner than I'm expecting. My to-do list currently:
  • Add in locals
  • Add in more trees in the background
  • Add in something to prevent players from accessing ground above bunker
  • Do script work
  • Make a minimap
  • Create a loadscreen
  • Remedy retarded AI behavior (if possible)
Here are a few more screenshots, of the exterior this time:

Here is an excerpt of one of my reports for The Exile's Voyage Beta:

It's not supposed to be there at that time period, but there's no problem with that, I guess nobody really looks up to the sky while on Endor... but if you want to achieve an extra level of polish, you could just remove it.
I think you got the point.

A lot of bushes plus a barrier?

Nice exterior, by the way.

Looks interesting, I don't know what Death Watch is, but it looks fantastic. Nice custom models too. Keep it up!

Thanks, everyone!

@Anakin: Yep, Nihillo's right, the Death Star II hasn't started construction yet.

I figured out a way.
stardestroyer001 wrote:...I don't know what Death Watch is...
Sorry, my mistake. I should have provided background information in the first post to begin with. Anyway here it is now:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Death_Watch_Bunker
Wookieepedia wrote:The Death Watch Bunker was the primary location of the Mandalorian Death Watch during the Galactic Civil War.

The Death Watch established a bunker on the forest moon of Endor where it would be virtually invisible to the rest of the galaxy. Death Watch Wraiths, Ghosts, and Bloodguards continued operating in secrecy, contracting with Black Sun as assassins in exchange for the crime syndicate helping them further their goals.
Update: Knocked a few things off my to-do list, most importantly the locals are in!

Ahh! Missing sounds, that's the real stickler I find. This is looking very good... I really enjoy close quarter battles.

Are there going to be Death Watch Mandalorians in the non-Exile's Voyage modes or just hostile AI battle droids? If so, are they going to be Mandalorians with actual Death Watch helmets (the ones with the massive T-visor with the gold bit around it), normal Mandalorians with custom skins or the Jango Fett armour clones from the animated series?

The screenshots look really good, this should be an interesting one to play.

Just battle droids. One of my goals for this map is to stick with only stock sides as much as possible. The only stock Mandalorians are Jango and Boba Fett. Jango would be too overpowering while Boba Fett is the Empire's hero. If I were to include any Death Watch Mandalorians, they would have the normal armor.

Gameplay should be kind of similar to Jabba's Palace where both sides start with a single CP and natives spawn in random locations, but just in that aspect. And of course close quarters combat.

I assume 'as much as possible' refers to the droid reskins. If you mean keeping to the stock sides in terms of weapons you could use the clone trooper with a mandalorian model (they were based off mandalorian commandos after all). By the way, are the Super Battle Droids going to have increased power compared to B1s or have the same as they are in the stock assets?
Jango would be too overpowering while Boba Fett is the Empire's hero.
Do you mean Boba is an Imperial Hero or the Imperial hero on this map?

Are there going to be other modes besides conquest, such as a hunt mode where one side is the Death Watch battle droids?
