After you have downloaded it, run the .exe and install to the C: drive. (or, whichever drive BF2 is on)
Then, after installation, Go to C:\BF2_ModTools\documentation and read the Getting Started.doc located there. It will answer most of your questions about....Getting Started (*shrugs*).

Re: How to remove guardian/war hero award effects (FAQ)
I've found that with the latest fake console, there's a code called "Remove Award Effects" which does the same job as required; mind you, that only works for some units(i.e. those who's names, like imp_inf_marine are mentioned in common.lvl).
Edit: Sorry about the bump, fellas; I only say the date of the previous post a minute ago.

Re: How to remove guardian/war hero award effects (FAQ)
Ugh, this is a another topic with its first post cut out.
Anyway, the FakeConsole does it by changing the following class properties on each unit class to: ""
Class Properties:
BuffHealthEffect
BuffOffenseEffect
BuffDefenseEffect
You can do this ingame using: SetClassProperty() (recommended if you're only making minor changes to the retail sides)
Or you can do it through the ODF files (recommended if you're using custom sides).
Doing this doesn't stop the unit from getting the awards, it just prevents you from seeing the graphical effects of the award.

I don't remember hearing the sound... I'd assume the sounds don't play if their effects don't play. Isn't the sound linked to the effects? I don't know, I've never done stuff with sounds.
