Wow, I can tell some of the textures you used, nice used of edited shipped textures.

It would be nice If next time he actually looked at the pictures BEFORE doing the texture job. I've seen several great models with incorrect or just awefull paintjobs, and this one isn't an exception (several signs are out of place). I don't want to offend anyone here, but If you can't texture: let someone else do it.

I personally am really started to get annoyed of the recent KotOR hype: KotOR wasn't intended to be a FPS/3rd person shooter, but an RPG. KotOR might include some epic battles, that doesn't mean it's suitable for SWBF. I personally find the recent KotOR hype boring as hell, because of a lack of originality employed. SWBF was built around the CW and the GCW, not for KotOR. Now, I don't say you shouldn't touch KotOR, but there's so many stuff in the CW and the GCW left to explore!

There's, for example, a huge lack of GOOD space maps and some original ground maps. All recent attempts have been half Diet Dr. Pepper attempts or screwups of some awesome ideas. C'mon people, GET CREATIVE!

Dude, i seriously think you need to shut up.. All you do is commenting on other's work while you can't show us any good model at all.. You probably have no idea how hard it is, and this KotOR hype brings BF2 to another lvl..

Diet map attempts or not, they are attempts, meaning effort is put into it, show no reason to be so harsh.. Go being grumpy on yourself before you do it on others, it's a very good model and doesn't deserve ANY comment from YOU!

Okay, do it. "I don't want to offend" should never be preceded by "this is awful." I think it looks good enough for what I want, and it fits in with textures of other models I have, which is more important to me than being accurate to a "T" to the original game.

And FYI? We're not pros here. The status quo is not "let the best person do it," otherwise only a few of us at the site would actually be doing any work, with everyone else requesting work from them. My texturing isn't professionally-done, and it's not the best at Gametoast, but I'll be darned if I can't texture.

So to be more original I should continue to mine the minutae of the two eras that already exist instead of doing new material. Sound logic there, champ. "KotOR wasn't intended to be a FPS?" Uh, duh? That's why it's an RPG. I'm modding Battlefront (note that the KotOR era is mostly about infantry and not the Jedi heroes of the actual KotOR game), and it's getting inspiration from other (more original) source material.
MasterSkywalker wrote:There's, for example, a huge lack of GOOD space maps and some original ground maps. All recent attempts have been half [Diet Dr Pepper] attempts or screwups of some awesome ideas. C'mon people, GET CREATIVE!
As a postscript, my previous two releases have been Space Endor and Spira: Besaid. The first is a "good space map-" one of the best. And the second is the most "original" ground map I've seen for Battlefront so far.

Oh, and I forgot the part about modding where I was supposed to be doing what you want, and not what I want.

First off all: thanks for starting a flame wars.

Second off all: I am not going to take any crap from a dude who thinks a walker that looks like a cube is acceptable. And then again, I am not a modeller, I know I am bad at it, which is why I don't model.

And that critism is ment to help you out, which I told you about 4 times by now. Being stubborn and saying: "He's just a grumpy old man, ignore that Diet Dr. Pepper" is not only stupid, but it eliminates alot of potential for a map/mod.

And about all the other crap: I have been around for 3 years, I might've not posted alot in awhile, but I've been checking the forums and I've seen the rise of the SWBFII modding community. You also can say I started the Rise of the Empire hype (which reached a height with Majin's RoE series). So I won't take any crap for someone who thinks: "I lost all the source files" is a good reason to bring out crap.

Also, I said the texturing was inaccurate, not the model. Please read my post BEFORE starting to comment on it.

Guys, guys, come on, no flame war over this. We're all entitled to our opinions, but just be carefull on how you present them.

I personally think Mav's frigate is textured quite well, maybe not that accurate, but all the effort of making it 100% accurate just isn't worth it. If you want it to be 100% accurate, no-ones gonna stop you if you want to make one. Anyway I'll not get too mixed into this.

About "taking crap": It doesn't matter who you are, wether you just made an account today, wether you're Guru or Teancum himself or someone whose been here for three years, or three days, no-one of us should have to to "take crap", and no-one should "give crap". That has nothing to do with what you made, how long you've been here or who you are.

As a postscript, my previous two releases have been Space Endor and Spira: Besaid. The first is a "good space map-" one of the best. And the second is the most "original" ground map I've seen for Battlefront so far.
Is that why about 10 ppl I have recently talked to said: "Space Endor is cool.. but after 10 minutes it really get's boring."?
Irrelevant and uncalled for.

To be honest, I do quite agree with MasterSkywalker. First of all, it's a good thing that he starts with a friendly post. Mandarek's comment is just plain immature. Just look at "it's a very good model and doesn't deserve ANY comment from YOU!
" - that makes me wonder if he is 5 years old or something. If you post your work here, you must be able to face constructive critisism. Sure, we aren't pros, but still we must be able to hear what people think. Hey, that is what I love with modding - it's fan made, and it doesn't have to be the best!

To stay on-topic, I gotta comment on Mav's latest model. As I said, I agree with MasterSkywalker. The texture work isn't the best, but the model work is absolutely mind-blowing! I wish I could do that someday, someday... :atatpilot:

I'm sorry Ace, i thought it would be sensored, which would fit nice in the emotion i wanted to express with it..

I'll back off with my cube walker now

No sorry for being 'immature', seriously.. It's hard when you worked very hard and long and someone has comments.. It's just that Skywalker can present it so.. well.. rude? Like, uncarefull sometimes.. If i don't want anything, it's flame wars, i got enough already outside GT, lol :P

No big deal here, and what i meant before, like my work or not, it's your opinion, but if you don't like something, you don't have to play it.. That doesn't mean something like.. You don't like that?! Then why play it! I just mean, BF2 also has maps i never play, because i can't enjoy playing them.. Still i respect others that they do enjoy it

Happy that's fixed now.. Maybe i can teach you moddeling one day, you never know when you need a cube walker when Droids attack you, lol xD

Did you know that i added light to TMG? New layer, smart idea from RepSharpshooter :)

@Ewokmate

You deserve a moddeling award :D

Constructive criticism is just fine, and necessary, but it's all in the presentation. Like MandeRek said, the general idea, and thought where ok, MasterSkywalker just came off alittle rough. Alot of people take criticism just fine, but it must be done gently so as not to trip off a a person's ego, or personal pride. Minilogguy was pretty bad at being careful with people's pride, and not many liked him.

Nice cup Ewok, Particularly the swirled texture.

MandeRek: What's a TMG?

Tatooine; Mos Gamos.. The Battlefront Zero map. Skywalker noticed there was no lighting.. I soon noticed too :P

And you're probably right.. My ego is quickly damaged when comments seem a bit rude :?

No-one knew this was the start of a war until MandeRek and Skywalker start killing eachother... Lol JOKE! No-one take that seriously or I mghit blow up. Anyway i really happy because I've 75% done the best map I've ever made, my helicopter.

Image

Since I can't be bothered to do loads of animating stuff I'm just using alpha in blades and make it look like they're whirring.

Looks okay, though the 'nose' seems to have wrong proportions.. You could do the blades with a scrolling texture, maybe..

Another flying brick! LEGO Star Wars: Battlefront? :P (Nah, joke XD)

Looks OK, but a good texture can hide alot? :P And yeah, the nose kinda seems out of place.. maybe make it a bit shorter? And how about the tail rotor?

Do make the nose a bit shorter, and for texture for the blades you could make an animated texture which is a black line or two on a transparent backround.

Not a very funny joke... Nice model Hamster. the nose needs to look a little bit sharper.
