Annoying bug
ever since my computer got a virus and I had to reinstall windows, I've encountered an annoying bug when I log on. When I log on to a profile that isn't entirely default, nothing shows up. The desktop background and the mouse will show up, and task manager will show up, but nothing else will. I can sometimes bypass this by logging on to my dad's account ( which is default) and switching users to my account, and it will load, but sometimes even that doesn't work. Is there any way to fix this problem? (I've tried to create new accounts, but if I add a file to my documents or add a new desktop shortcut or anything like that, I get this problem)

When you reinstalled Windows, did:
You COMPLETELY reinstall it? Or did you just do a repair?
You receive this error initially, or did this error appear after time?

I reformatted the hard drive and installed windows, and I got this problem ever since (not the first time, since it was the default setup for all the users, but the next day it happened)

What OS are you running?
When you turn on your computer, are you taking it out of sleep mode or are you actually turning it on?
Please post your specs

Re: Annoying bug
I am using windows XP home edition, 32 bit. I shut down the computer, not just put it in sleep mode, so I'm turning it on. and I didn't have this problem on the computer until after I reformated and reinstalled windows.

Try going to task manager- then click the "New Task" button. Type explorer.exe and see if that works. Do this on your account that has the problem.
ShadowHawk: In case you need to know how to get to the Taskman when nothing shows up on the screen, xp and up uses ctl-alt-del to get to it. Thought I should add that just in case someone not as computer literate has the same prob later.
