CP node placement

Can anyone tell me how to move a node from a CP up or down? Noobish question mos likely but IM NEW

With the object selected, hold the C key and move it along the axis.

I think he's talking about a CP "path" node. Nodes or pathes by itself can be moved up or down by holding the left-shift button and pressing the left mosue button for moving up (down) single nodes (when selected) and by holding left-shift+right mouse button you should be able to move up (down) the entire path.
