Not recommended I know but I've been running the dedicated server and client operating on the same PC.
I used to do this in Halo by putting my client on a different port to my dedicated Halo server but in SWBF I can't do this.
What I do instead is start my client, ALT + ESCAPE to come back to the desktop, run the dedicated server, and then go back into my client to play.
I wouldn't recommend doing this if your PC isn't running at a reasonably good spec but I've had it going with 18 people entering the game without any issues.

A dedicated server with a client on the same PC is no longer dedicated...

If the application is running seperately and independently from the client application regardless of whether the client is running or not, it is still dedicated.Leviathan wrote:A dedicated server with a client on the same PC is no longer dedicated...

I thought that a server was dedicated only if it was allocated to a unique task : Be a server and just that...

Hello Leviathan,Leviathan wrote:I thought that a server was dedicated only if it was allocated to a unique task : Be a server and just that...
You are correct in that defintion but 'dedicated server' has other meanings. You refer to this one:
1. The game is hosted on a server that is totally 'dedicated' to you and this one application. There are no other users or applications running alongside. This is an advanced and often expensive form of hosting (if you're renting).
It also refers to a situation when:
2. You run a dedicated server game application in which the computer can run the server portion of the game without needing the client application. This allows the server to handle several more concurrent connections, as the computer is not bogged down with tasks such as the rendering of graphics. In my case I'm running the dedicated server game portion of SWBF plus the client version.
I'm able to achieve this and maintain stability because I have 8mb downstream, 1mb upstream, and a pretty good spec PC.
