Hey. I just downloaded the mod tools, but when i go to start them up, it asks for CD 1. Problem is, i don't have a CD 1. I have the Steam version. Is there any way around this?

Modtools shouldn't ask for CD 1, mine work without the CD....

I believe there is a version of the modtools with a no-CD patch on it for users with the DVD version, it should work for steam as well, I'm not sure where it is though.

What I am saying is that your statement is not true, as Modtools normally asks for the CD. How you got yours not to, I don't know. But it normally asks for the CD.

Hidden/Spoiler:
Question - I have the CD version of SWBF2 and I get a binkw32.dll error when trying to launch the BF2_modtools.exe, what's wrong?
Answer - The BF2_modtools.exe is the debug executable, copy it from the main BF2_modtools folder and paste it in the same folder as your battlefront2.exe, usually:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
then you can launch BF2_modtools.exe and play your map to get a BFront2.log located in that same folder.
If you have the DVD version check THIS LINK for a DVD version of BF2_modtools.exe
FAQ/EYN thread. I would guess that the dvd version would not ask for a cd...

To point out something to the OP, the BF2_Modtools.exe is not, in fact, the map-maker. That's the map-tester. What you want is VisualMunge, which doesn't need a CD.

excatly..

for starting the modtools map testing console (BF2_Modtools.exe) with the dvd version of the game; there is a special exe that isnt delivered with the modtools.. I'll have a look if I can find the thread with the link to it..

only thing missing would be the hyperlink on "This Link" so you can get there.

This Link (if this shouldnt work;

heres the more simple hyperlink to click on..)

http://www.filefront.com/9051072/BF2_mo ... ug_EXE.zip
and if neither of them work;
copy and paste this into your browser:

http://www.filefront.com/9051072/BF2_mo ... ug_EXE.zip

I think you need the DVD version.
But what i think you want to start is the editor and you are going to start the game in a smaler window. You have to make a projekt and edit this with the Zero editor.(you find this in the data folder) not with the bf2_modtools.exe. this you can start if you want to see your map in the game and won't open the big game(i didn't need this).
I had the same problem when i started moding. A tipp download fierfeks_bf2_mapping_and_modding_tutorial. If this is what you want to know and you have any more questions you can pm me

that wont work. Clicking a link with a BBcode will do the same if copy paste it in the browser. All three will show the same thing. No mater what you click on.

my link to the FAQ/EYN works perfectly, as does that topic's own link to the file
FAQ/EYN is also a sticky at the top of the bf2 modding forum.

jeah,
sorry;

I only noticed when I had finally posted, that you had fixed your link.

my bad.

funny though with the bb-codes not quite doing what I wanted, as you use them like that, but usually when you type [ulr=] you should be able to have a normal thing like click here.. oh well.. I tried..
