Just reinstalled SWBF2 on my MacMini with Core i5 and Intel HD4000 graphic.
I can play the game in native res with all graphic settings set to high and get 25-50 fps.
But once i come close to the map boundaries (and the view direction is to the map edges) the framerate drops to 1-2 fps.
If i turn shadows to low i don't have this problem.
Now the wiered thing. if i turn AA on ( set it to 2xAA) the overall framerate drops to around 20 fps but at the map boundariers it goes up to 50+ fps.
I searched the forum and the internet but couldn't found someone with the same problem nor a solution.
Any help?
Specs:
Core i5 2.5 GHz
Intel HD4000 graphics (512MB)
4 GB DDR 3 RAM 1600 MHz.
Windows 7 Pro
Shadows high =1 fps (solved)

Great to see you here again, Rends! Welcome back!
Anyway, hmm, very peculiar... I have a feeling it may have to do with your integrated graphics card's core and/or shader clock speed and/or its memory interface. Which maps have you tried? Also, how much free space do you have on the hard drive on which the game is installed?
EDIT:
OH! Also, your processor and RAM are very likely being bottlenecked by the sluggish GPU. You'll probably need a faster, dedicated graphics card in order to compensate.

Re: Shadows high =1 fps
I tested it with Jabbas palace, Death Star and my own Mos Eisley Spaceport but i'm sure it will happen on every map.
It's curios that i can play with shadows high and good framerates on 3/4 of the maps but when i look at a specific direction it goes down to 1-2 fps. Sometimes i only need to change the a few degrees left or right and it goes up again.
I don't have framerate drops if i watch along the streets of Mos Eisley and can see all the action on it but then i move next to the imperial outpost and view against the single wall with no shadows viewable and 1 or 2 buildings behind it before the map edge and the framerate goes down to 1 fps.
I don't think that the intel HD4000 isn't capable running the games with shadows to high.
It works fine on almost all parts of the maps.
Guess it is a intel graphic driver problem but i hope to find a solution here

It's not a driver problem, the intel graphics cards just aren't all that powerful. They're meant for browsing the Internet, writing papers and documents, and watching videos. Not really gaming and rendering.

Well i can play Crysis at 1200x800 and medium settings.Twilight_Warrior wrote:It's not a driver problem, the intel graphics cards just aren't all that powerful. They're meant for browsing the Internet, writing papers and documents, and watching videos. Not really gaming and rendering.
The Intel HD4000 can handle games way above SWBF2. I can also play ARMA2 at 1200 res with most settings to medium at 30 fps.
But what i wanted to post is following.
If the fps drops to 1-2 fps and i alt-tab out and in of the game the fps recover up to 50 fps, lol.
More things : is it true that the game doesn't use more than 128 MB graphic RAM.
At least the software gpu-z say so. And the gpu clock never goes higher than 650 MHz while playing SWBF2 while it goes up to 1100MHz when playing ARMA2.
EDIT
Found the reason why i get the fps drop.
When the fps goes down the gpu clock speed lowered from 650 to 350 MHz.
Hm, now i need to find a way to prevent the graphic card doing this unnormal behavior.
I also still wonder why the max clock speed is limited to 650MHz when playing SWBF2 while it is double the number when playing ARMA2?
EDIT2
Fixed.
Reinstalled the graphic driver and made sure it was the 64 bit version and voila no problem anymore.
