Fix for the grappling hook in multiplayer?

Is there a fix or setting that has to be used to prevent the crash that happens in MP when the grappling hook is fired?
So It shouldn't crash

Well first off, if you use a grappling hook in a server that doesnt have the grappling hook, it will crash. and if they DO have the grappling hook (Like the elite sides mod made by delta_57_dash) it will not crash. Me and my friends used to use grappling only on cloud city with the snipers...... fun times

Snipers+grapple hook or snipers+jetpack never seemed like a very balanced idea to me. After all, it gives them a potentially uncounterable advantage.
In any case, I thought I remembered that it didn't work in MP. Apparently, if you and a friend were messing around with it in mp, I am just confusing yourself. I seriously doubt there is any way to get the AI to use it well though. I wouldn't be surprised if it was like the fatray in the AI's eyes....non existant.
