I need to know if XSI is hard to use. And if it is worth getting into.

I just started using XSI and I don't find it hard. But don't go trying to make a new unit or something first try.

Does XSI have more value to game design than 3ds Max, like, is it used by more companies? I have the mod tools, but I want to know if it's worth learning also.

I'm pretty sure 3ds is used by more companies than XSI for game development. I don't know why though, i personally find xsi much easier to use, and everything is much easier to find :? Anyway, as others have said, start off small and work your way up. Don't expect to be good at it the first time you try, and keep going even if it seems hopeless, as it does for many people at first. If you really like modelling and enjoy it a lot, then i would say yes, definately get it, but if your not really sure if it's something your going to like, then i would stick with the mod tools version, until you make up your mind.

xsi the most superb modeling program.

use it i beg you lol. okay that was OTT.

nah though it is very good and just think you can make your own assets for your maps if you need something the right size or not.

XSI is actually used more for games than 3ds max, its all EA games uses and theyre one of the largest. 3ds max is just "mainstream" its popular because its a name everyone knows off the top of thier head but it has some terrible performance issues i.e. laggy as hell even on good PCs. digital tutors doesnt even offer 3ds max training just because maya and XSI are more widely used.

yeap..

Stupid Maya is being transformed into 3ds Max ._. *cries*

they even renamed some of the menus in Maya 8 to something like Max... Before: Edit Polygons.. After: Edit Mesh..

:? I also think people remember 3ds max because of the number 3 and the word max :P Who can forget a Magic Number and Max? :P

My first model, btw, was some kind of bike :P also practiced with XSI and texturing at that time  the concept were my own.. from a seahorse XD rofl - horses are one of the most difficult creatures to draw, so why wouldn't it be difficult to do some horse-thingy in XSI? :P

might have a pic somewhere.. *fizzles with a few odd stuffs*

lol :D found it - look how cheesy it looks :P Took me a 2-3 days to work on O.o

Everything at its time.. If you need to start out with making a cube you do that - if you need to start out with making a full body rigged character you do that  Never be ashamed of your first work, as long as it won't be your last
