Making a droid.

I'm trying to make a droid. I'm using the HK-47 model and I want to edit the skin. I want to rename the skin. How exactly would I do that? I think it involves going into the MSH, but if I go in and change it, I have to rename the MSH so that I can use the normal one for other guys, right? I'm not sure if its that simple.
Does this look right to you guys? HK didn't come with an ODF so... this is my droid's.
Is "HT-T14.odf" an OK name?

You are missing the .msh in the first geometry statement, and why would you use a jet trooper as lowres?
Also please remember to use the Edit button instead of double posting

Open up Hk-47's tga. Change it however you like and save it in the same directory as the original, but name it whatever you want. When saving it make sure you turn off RLE compression. Then all you have to do is rename your skin (you called it what you want to identify it, now you're renaming it again, the second time) to the same name as the original tga, skin, and make a backup of the original (you can either copy it to somewhere or put the word original infront of it which will identify it for you, but make the game not use it and the other new skin you created not overwrite it). So no, this has nothing to do with the msh. To sum up, you create a skin rename it the same as the original, replace the original, while making a backup and munge. Then all you have to do after that is sit back, relax and enjoy your skin ingame.

Does it really matter? I picked one. He'll act like a jettie when he's veiwed from far away. Do you have any suggestions of what I should use instead?
(funny because I was expecting somebody to say that...)

It is up to you what you use but if the Rep side is not loaded in your map the use of the jettrooper as a lowres may crash your map.

What if I roll all of the ODFs and MSHs etc. into one Side file?

thatll still work assuming you have msh and odf folders and that you have the common side in youre SIDES folder as well.

That model doesn't have an override texture. You'll have to hexedit a new texture into the .msh file. See the "Everything you need" thread for how.
