Well, editing LVL files is done via BFBuilder. Once you've completed your map, you hit 'Munge' to create LVL files that are needed for mods and maps. Currently there is not a tool to open up an already made LVL file.

Once thats done, copy whatever's in the BFBuilder/Addon directory to your Battlefront/Gamedata/Addon directory. Start Battlefront, go singleplayer, instant action and select your map.

huuuum... i think i got misunderstood.... i don wanna create a map i wanna create ONLY the lvl file... is it possible?? what i reallyu wanna do is to make the KasS 3 republic units ( only the soldiers not the vehicles ) available for all maps.. so if i wanna do that then i need to create a rep.lvl file right?? if i start a project and munge it nothing happens.. if is possible to make only the lvl file without create a map id be very thankful if anyone could teach how to do it.... i tried many things and search for tutorials but couldnd get my project to work =/.....

I'll make you a lvl file for $20. It might not work with SWBF, but it will have a .lvl extension, so kinda the same thing.

veerrryyy funny nimlot

Ok, units, weapons, vehicles, etc. are your odf's. msh, tga's are what your thing looks like (msh = model, tga's = "skin"). Then your req. files are what your level loads. then there are other files, (lua, ter, wld, etc) that do specific things. That's the basics, for particular help, ask away.

so to make a lvl file all u do is edit the lvl's,munge the "map" and the sides and then u just take the rep, all, cis and imp lvl's out and put them in your gamedata/data/LvLpc/side folder, and then u just made your :? new sides?is that how u do it?

basically, ya... oh and you have to use the original vehicle and charecter odf's, ones like imp_inf_officer won't load, and if you want localization to appear you must use the original weapon odf's.

Famous words, famous words. Didn't I post that somewhere those are your's and
sat's favorite phrase? :) It does greatly help if you read the docs first, if you don't understand them, then it would be easier for others to explain the part you don't while reinforcing what you do. Plus it saves a lot of space and typing if a search is performed on the site also. This subject has come up many times here and it has been answered thoroughly. Any questions after that, we will be glad to answer, but it is frustrating as you can tell from Nim's sarcasm to answer the same questions over and over because someone was wanting to jump into modding. This is a learning process, but like in school, how are you going to learn without a textbook? The textbook comes with the mod tools and the lab manuals on this site. Again, if there is a specific prob you cannot find, we will be glad to point you in the right direction if not show you directly how to do it.

You must search in the right place to get the needed tutorials... (Look at psych0fred web-site, or use the "Search" option here, on GameToast...)
