I planned on animating it, but it's sposed to be sorta like a storm cloud thing. In case you can't tell, animating didn't work out.

I started out with a normal sunset, used a mosaic filter on the water, and about a dozen different roughen filters to make it look like an oil painting. Oh, then I shadowed the edges.

I did this one a few days ago but I couldn't get Abomination right and he appears squished.

It still looks good, the Abomination's jaw is just odd.

Oh, how do you anchor the text? When I try the option is grey. I want to do some of the text effects. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I couldn't find an answer anywhere else and the tutorials don't say how.

I think that's my favourite of all of yours. Everything blends well together.
Personally though, I think you should change the font you use

Yeah I thought so too, do you know of any good fonts? I know some sites but I can't find any fonts that would go well and all of the shipped Gimp fonts don't match.

www.dafont.com is the best site for fonts.
Choose Eroded, Distorted, or Destroyed for the more rough looking fonts.
I commonly use BASE 02, Birth of a Hero, The Maple Origins, Epoxxy History and... well that's about all I can think of...
The user "Last Soundtrack" has a bunch of sweet fonts.

Ah, when I looked before all I could find were the ones with boxes around the letters and Christmas but I don't think I looked all the way on the left Thanks!

Another background: It has much more muted colors than the Mario one; it's kinda dull.

Here's some map attempts I've made over the past few days.
Thanks to Penguin for the parchment that she made me.

They are actually two versions of what is supposed to be the same map. I just haven't figured out exactly what it all looks like yet.

The second looks a lot better than the first. The black figures are more realistic for that type of map - although I would increase the opacity of all of them.

And the first one could work, but it needs to be in sepia hues, and not colored. There are also too many of each figure (layering the mountains/trees on top of one another as you've done looks bad).

And for either one, I would use hard outlines for the rivers/lakes. Just lower the opacity (and/or decrease the contrast) below that of the mountains.
