Don't forget the effects folder! Anyway, no. They have to release the assets. You can't just get them from a map in your addon folder.

Even if it's possible, it's illegal.

The KOTOR people we use are legal. They are custom by the community, so we can use them.

It is possible to take people from the conversion pack, for instance Kit fisto, or luminara, and put them in your map. However, that too is illegal. I have experimented though and managed to put the Kit fisto everyone really liked into one of my maps, and then deleted him, for legal reasons.

Didn't we already go through this process already? There's a grey area, but some are not really clear on the law. It's complicated, confusing, and the best way to know for sure is to study law, or ask a lawyer. So, I find the contradicting each other over this detail and that while having almost no knowledge on the subject very highly irritating.
Porting assets from one game to another is illegal to a point that it'll most likely have very undesireable consequences for individuals and websites alike. Gametoast specifically avoids so much as condoning the practice for this reason. I can't guarantee the companies involved will take legal action, or any other, but I am certain in that there's no guarantee that they won't, which is a very important distinction. The EULA is only one facet of this, and to think only of what it says is oversimplification of the issue by far.
As for Kit and Luminara, what are you even talking about? If I remember correctly, those (Kit at least) are exclusive to the Conversion Pack by request of the person that made the model. So, there's no legal issue there. It would be the same if I decided I wanted my Imperial officer skin exclusive to my map. There's no legal issue there, either. It's a choice, and it's based on the respect the rest of the community has for the person to not find a way to use it. Furthermore, we technically don't have legal rights to any of the Star Wars stuff we make, because I believe it all counts as "derivative works", which means it all belongs to The Great Flanneled One & Co. (LLC
) no matter how much work we put into it. By claiming "it's ours because we made it", it implies a claim that Star Wars is also at least partially ours, and that's where the legal trouble starts, since we are not licensed to do any such thing. It's the difference between being Timothy Zahn and some random fool that writes a fanfic, posts it on the net, and demands royalties for reading, using their new characters, etc, etc, etc.
Can we move on, now?
/endrant?

What the heck are you talking about? EVERY EULA says that.Commander_Cody771 wrote:Only if the EULA says so.-_- wrote:Even if it's possible, it's illegal.
And as far as Kit is concerned, it's really easy to put him in, you just literally load him into your lua like this:
Not actual code
ReadDataFile("heroes.lvl",
"rep_hero_fisto")
It requires you to have the Conversion Pack installed to work though. And the only legal thing about Fisto is that I can't release the source files. You technically could load him into your map easily.
