Freeze of Death

Not quite sure how I managed this, but when I am loading any mode in modtools.exe, it manages to get all the red circles filled and keeps flashing Loading, then it freezes and I have to ctrlaltdel it. I looked in the error log to try and find the problem and I got nothing, in fact there are fewer errors than there normally are. It is getting frozen on something, to the point where it is unable to even load the rest of it. How would I go about tracking down just what exactly is causing it to freeze?

Are you sure its freezing and not just taking a really long time to load? Is an error pop-up popping up behind the game?

You can try using the custom era shell. It logs more, but I'm not sure if it will help you.

You might also have too many objects. That has happened to me before.

I'm pretty sure it is freezing, because the little "Loading" text in the bottom left stops flickering in and out like it does while it is loading and actually freezes.

I do have a ton of objects, that may be the problem.

EDIT: I have 740 objects in the base layer, not many more in other layers. Custom Era Shell showed nothing different.

EDIT: I restored a backup from a week ago, then copied over the most recent Sides and Scripts folder to that, munged and ran with no problems. So I'm thinking it is a problem with something I did in ZE...

I just now got that problem...I added a new model into ze, that might be the issue. Don't think it's the number of objects...I hear you're supposed to be able to put 3000-some in. I have yet to check the error log.

Edit: got error log to have no level 3's and it's still doing it, will try a manual clean...

EDIT: GOT IT! The problem isn't the number of objects, it's the number of animated objects, in my case, Star Destroyer doors. As soon as I had more than 32, it gave me the loading freeze of death. I took some out and the problem is solved. Now, next question: what do I put in the lua to increase the memory pool for door animations to 64, so I can put the doors back in? Mav? Tean? Frag? Anyone?
