If there are enough people playing I'd definitely recommend CTF for Geonosis: Freight Dock.
Cool to see more people playing my map online, so count me in as well ;)

Ryloth: Nabat is another fun one.

Well unfortunately it's not playable online. I was very new when I made it, and I must have screwed something up with the lua. Although I've never tried the beta online, the 1.0 refuses to load.

I'm going to have a PC server running Republic Commando: Extraction and Geonosis: Freight Dock running on and off for the rest of the day. Server name is Temp GT GamingServer or something like that, pass is guruiscool.
Enjoy.
EDIT: Server is down for now.

And it's up again! This time playing Dark Times II on a mix of stock and DTII maps!
And the password is still guruiscool. It will go off about when Game Three of the World Series starts.
EDIT: And, due to complications, it is down for now.

Ah, "complications", eh?

On an ontopic note, I tried to join earlier when it was playing Freight Dock, and though I had the map - I was able to join when Wulfman was hosting the map a couple days ago - I couldn't today. I kept getting a message that I didn't have the map being played, though I was pretty sure I did. I had Extraction, too. Technical issues, maybe?

Yup, "complications".

That's odd, there were other people who joined just fine. Maybe... some odd technical issue happened. Or something like that.

I was able to join Freight Dock without problems.
Dunno why you couldn't join.

seems as though our best bet would be a dedicated server so that we wouldn't have the host having to leave.

Well unfortunately I only have 3GB of RAM, trying to host a dedicated and mod at the same time is not a great idea. :|

Well, I decided to set up a dedicated server, and I want to see if the lag is not there/ok/bad/lifethreatening/gainingintelligenceandfightingotherservers. So the name is GT Gaming Server, pass is guruiscool! Have fun playing, it's currently running Freight Dock.
EDIT: Blame the random crashings on me. I've been goofing off with the server tool.
EDIT2: Still trying to figure out this thing.
EDIT3: Ah well, it was a good idea. Maybe I can get the thing working right someday later.

can you add Battle Arena 2.0 to the server?

Edit: Off-topic How do you make it so you can have more than 4 people on a server?

people when i said dedicated i meant a "REAL" dedicated, not a home hosted one. those lag almost as bad, if not worse than a regular server would.

since i have a dedicated i could swap out the mods when i need to. i'll probably attempt to host a battle arena 2.0 server on it sometime this week, but currently my server is full of people and has been all day so i wouldn't want to exit it and go install a mod on it.

This is just an outright and blatant lie. I used to run dedi's all the time from my home computer. 16 people. No issues.
In fact, the Minecraft server was run on my home computer way back when with hardly any lag issues for most users, and it's the same idea (run the server from a console, play the game in a separate window).

If your computer has a multi-core processor, a dedicated server running in the background while you play SWBF2 will run more smoothly than you running the server ingame. Will the lag still be worse than if you were running the server on an isolated machine? Of course, but that's true for anything. But for a home-run dedicated server, the lag will only be as bad as the host's RAM and internet speed. And if the host has enough RAM and a pretty good internet speed, a homemade ded server can run just as well as one you have to pay for.

ok then,

i was hosting an SWBF2 server on a separate machine than the one i was playing on and at about 4 people we were lagging. Maybe minecraft doesn't lag as bad for its dedicateds.

Has anyone ever tried to make an event where everyone at GT downloads a specific map or two, goes on BF2 at a specific time, and plays some good, old-fashioned online games? If not, I think it would be a cool idea.

i'm wondering why we never did game night. i've actually been thinking of having an organized prison break type game server since i started that cave map, i added a prison and i'm working out the escape and map problems now.
