Is it at all possible to make a black-bladed lightsaber?, like the hidden one from TFU? I tried changing the texture of the blade from white to black but that just came out transparent.

does the bladetexture have an alphachannel?

well, im working on a blacksaber right now, bjut its really trick, the game read black as transparent, so idk

It must, or it would be a hard rectangle not a blade shape with fading edges and a point.

i asked because the only reason why black would bekome invisible ingame i could imagine was that the textures use black color rather than the alphachannel for transparency, but i guess i was wrong.
did you make sure that the alphachannel isnt too opaque where the black is?

When using it, it makes the blades look like this:

I don't know if this will work, but try changing it so the black is not black but a very dark grey - near enough black. Maybe 10,10,10 (RGB values)

Tried that already, no difference.

I am not sure if it would work, but this is a similar problem in Fx home effects packages....

Maybe a feathered mask would work?

The lightsaber has transparency. You need to either hex edit transparency out or make a new model, I believe.

hmm well if hex editing doesnt work fully, you could always take the color from teh imperial engineer's helmet thing or gloves, but i guess those would be black because they dont have transparency in them

the problem is that lightsabers have no model and the transparency is always enabled otherwise the blade would have hard edges.

I am not entirley fakiliar with this, but could you make two models, one with transpentcy, to give the feathered option and one solid, so it is black...

I beive that if you stacked them ontop of each other, making to seperate models, then you could achieve that affect?

lightsaber blades arent models. of course you could make an effect of the solid black center and attach it, but i doubt that will work well. it can hardly be an actual model because you could see that only from two sides and workarounds wouldnt look good either.

What you could try is using the texture I posted above and create a black/not textured tube with the dimensions to fit into the "hole" and attach it to the hilt...may look stupid when you crouch, but who does as a saber-wielding hero?

Try really dark blue.
