Core Duos and Turions are not interchangeable, so no, you couldn't (they each use different mother boards)

Change the Video Card? well, for laptops each video card is almost always custom made by the graphics vendor to fit the exact laptop. Seeing as laptop mother boards and the laptops themselves change fairly often, the likelihood of you getting a better video card for your laptop is not that good. Unless you meant buying it with the lowest video card offered for the notebook, and buying the better one later...this approach might work, but the video card you would buy would probably be used.

I found this kind of stuff out when I purchased a video-cardless (it was integrated) laptop. I wanted to purchase a better video card, but there were none made for that model, so it didn't work.

The wireless card was bad from the start, so they're sending me a new one (got this laptop last August, I didn't bother to call them until yesterday so....) That's and example of good tech support, they're sending me a new one for free (since it is still under warranty)

Do Not Get Wireless

Wireless internet is slower depending on where your laptop is and the signal. Micro waves interfere with it as well ((So using anything that sends out Micro Waves kills your internet, like a normal cooking Micro Wave))

Actually, wireless is fine permitting you are in a good area for wireless, and have a good router and wireless card.

Good wireless equipment will not limit your internet speeds

If you'll be gaming at all, do not get a wireless mouse! Personally i like Alienware's Aurora m9700 notebook.

Yes I agree with not getting a wireless mouse but....not to be grim but Alienware might have everything in 1, but the company has not been doeing well so lately with all the bad reviews, not to mention the amount of dough you have to put in those. But that's my opinion of course.

And for only about 1002$ (to be exact, including tax) (mine was 1050$ to be exact)

Make sure to change their shipping selection from overnight to 3-5 business days (the free one)


They *might* have a better deal sometime, but it is hard to guess this kind of stuff. For 2GBs of RAM, I'd say this is a pretty good deal

Question, would vista ultimate be right for me?

Umm.....Ultimate has advanced netowrking features (like joining Domains), and also has Bitlocker (Encrypts your whole hard drive, but slows down your computer a little). It also has shadow copy which backs up old program versions in the background.

Lets put it this way: If you use XP Home now, and are fine with it, you would probably be fine with Home Premium.


You might want ultimate if you do advanced networking, or if you have a job that takes advantage of Domain features.

I'm gonna get Ultimate so I don't have to worry about network limitations, but only you would know if you would use those features or not.

Depends on what you want to use it for and how much you want to pay. I will never get Windows Vista (even for free from MSDN AA), but thats just me. What are you going to be using this laptop for? Just gaming or something else?

Also, external graphics cards have just started comming out (well, they've been out for years but I mean ones that are being marketed towards laptop gaming).

yeah, I will be using it for gaming. Why wont you get it?
