What is a good 3D modeling program I can get?

How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.

What is a good 3D modeling program I can get? I'm trying to get started modding and would like a fairly decent, easy to use modeling program to get started on. Thanks in advance. :vader2:

XSI Modtools (Free) is what most modders here use, although it can't export for use in the Battlefront engine, you'll have to get XSI Foundations (400 USD)for that.
Gmax (Free) is a stripped-down version of the popular, mainstream, industry-popular 3ds Max (Student version 399 USD)

But many people here have the foundation version, so exporting isn't a large problem.
