On a gun, where exactly should the dummyroot null be for where it's being held (top of handle, middle, etc.) ?

the dummyroot is there where you press to shoot...i cant explain it, maybe i find a screen

the dummyroot is at 0,0,0 (default position) you move the model with reference to that.
From experience, move the gun so the top of the trigger is slightly back and slightly above the dummyroot null.

And you may already know this but the gun must be pointing along the Z axis with the barrel on the left side.

ok i got it but wat do you mean by "barrel on the left side"?

As shown in the picture in the link, looking at the Right View box the barrel (the bit where the laser comes out) is on the left side.
