OK, well, I haven't been on gametoast for a while now but I have been working on this map for a few days. I am also working on another but am waiting for some models back before I can finish it.
Anyway, this is my first ever city map -- Bothawui.
Now you may think it looks a bit like Bespin (which it does), but it doesn't look THAT much like Bespin because of some aspects of it. For instance trees, assets from Naboo, statues, river etc...
I have never done a city map before, so it isn't amazing but I think it's quite good for a first. Anyway, onto the screenies:
Incase anyone wants to know, this is what I used as a little reference (the colour of the buildings and the aspects of the map):
Progress:
Map: 88%
Sides: 0%
Localisation: 20%
Objects: 50%
Still to do:
Sides (obviously)
Add Civilians -- (Can't have a map as big as this with NO civilians :O)
Add detail (see below)
So, that's just about it. I'm gonna work on the sides soon but I still need ideas for some detail to put in. The street's look rather empty.
--sampip--
Small Update:
New detail added (see page 3 for more)
Sides Update:
Not much to show really. Credits to Deviss-Rex and his 327th Legion. Really awesome

And I used his ARF trooper, thank you Deviss!!! All have been reskinned, no weapons have been changed yet. Just skins and models for now:
Normal Trooper:
Heavy Trooper:
Sniper:
Engineer (who, if you look closely has a slightly different pouldron to the clone trooper, not very obvious to see in these pictures):
Clone Commander:
Jet Trooper
Small Update on page 5 if you haven't been keeping up to date with this.

looks pretty good, as for streets, maybe benches, lamps and cars standing around? maybe somekind of marketplaces?

Looks very good, IMO. It does not seem Besipin, but something new, GJ.

i think there are some benches, not sure they showed up in the piccies though. Yes, lamps are a nice idea, I will probably reskin the ones from Naboo or use the Bespin ones (which are a bit small in my opinion), I can have a look at different lamps though. I will probably not have cars (seeming as this is Star Wars), although some of the civilians maybe driving reskinned Gian Speeders

. There Might be a Landing bay at the corner of the main plaza with ships in that are remote piloted but I'll have to wait.
Thanks for the comments
Thanks for the car idea, this is what I did with the Gian Speeder. Not totally satisfied but I quite like it (with another shot of the map)
edit: what does IMO mean?

Lol thanks, civilians will be Bothans (hence Bothawui) and there will be a variety of them. There will probably be a hunt mode with them and the empire if I get round to it.

Maybe ur hunt mode can be like this:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mission_to_Bothawui
Featured in EAW, where 2 Royal Guards and the Empy single handedly slaughtered a LOT of bothans for giving the death star plans.
Units are of course the royal guard, perhaps Empy, and *corrupted* bothans. (hinthintaddredeyeshinthint)

The city really reminds me of Paris for some reason. Which that of course means you definitely did a good job at making it

Wow, I think your the first one to do that! I'm guessing the Bothans will be friendly to the clones and rebels?

I'm VERY interested in this. Bothawui is the one planet I've always wanted to have a map for. If you don't mind I'd like to track this for potential as an Xbox port. Also, you might look into the assets Vyse and Rends released back in the day to liven up the city a bit.

Probably 'cause the Eiffel tower is in one shot.
To me, it actually reminds me more of Iziz from KOTOR 2. Great map you're doing, keep up the work.

That's fine, I'm honoured tbh

Where can I find these assets?

I was hoping for the kind of Yellow Clones you get on Utapau, just a bit more yellowy, I'm working on it, shots soon. Just bear in mind, it won't be anything totally amazing, I'd like to have a really good GCW because this is more when the map is based in. (needs idea for sides)
General_Nate wrote:Wow! Very pretty! How did you get the water to look so good??

Ha, it's Naboo water actually.

Yep. They won't have any weapons, though. I might put in an extra warrior unit for the Clones and Rebels though

That's giving me an idea. I might have a bash at a campaign on this one

I dunno though yet.
Anyway, thanks for the great comments, I hope to have the Rep done within this coming week I think, and I'm certainly having a look for more details as Teancum said.

That was Teancum who said that. not me.
