When did you download and use it? If your process was:
Download fix
Re-munge
Redownload Modtools
Create new map
Attempt munge

Then the fix won't work. For the fix to work these things must happen in this order
Install fix
Create new map
Attempt munge

Obviously redownloading the tools in between any of those steps would reset it since it would overwrite the fixed files. If you have downloaded this fix after you reinstalled the tools and still have had the issue after creating a new map, then you have a different issue.

It's a lot more difficult than "Install fix".
Does anyone know what file I need to have the vistamungefix.bat in to run it?
So far I've had luck making a _LVL_PC folder in my Mod Tools directory (its empty) but not in my map directory.
I've been messing around with it and I think it would be easier if someone that knew could tell me.
It is unclear to me on the other topic.

It doesn't have to be; as the topic linked to says, it's just an install to a location and run a batch file. All the fix is doing is updating the batch files used by the munge process so that xcopy works correctly for Vista's folder structure. Are you having some kind of problem installing the fix?

Yes a huge problem installing the fix. So far after I munge, some weird things have been happening. Just about everything has happened, except a _LVL_PC folder in my map dir, with the right files in it. (Mission.lvl, Core.lvl, etc.). My hunch is the batch file, (vistamungefix.bat) is supposed to be in a specific folder when I use it.

That is a good hunch, since the directions for using it say:
Frisbeetarian wrote:unpack the contents (the folder vistamungefix) into your BF2_ModTools directory. Run vistamungefix.bat.

Okay, what is this fix supposed to do? Because I still have no _LVL_PC folder in my map dir. Am I missing something?

It is likely. Did you read the fix instructions? It doesn't fix an already-existing created map's files; it will fix munging for any new data_MODID folders created after the fix is installed.

It got that way because people, in their attempt to be helpful, asked questions that were not germane (much like your question now). I know you're trying to help but asking the author a lot of questions at once when you yourself are unsure what the problem is does not help. The author's problem is (like many Vista-related problems) a problem with the munge batch files.

Well I finally got it to work. Man, the fix is not very easy to use. In all the confusion and stuff I accidentally deleted my map, so I have to make it again. Thanks for everyone who tried to help! And thanks Mav!
