Creating a new core.lvl for (already) existing mods

Hey all,
I want to know if it was possible to localize some unit's and weapons names for an existing mod.
For exemple: I've made a little side mod a while back without localizing the units or weapons's names and I've lost the source/assets. I re-installed my mod, see that their were missing names and want to fix it.
As usual, I've build a new core.lvl (with the editlocalise tool) including the new unit's names. Then when i loaded this level the game crashes.
