I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I am running the Windows 7 RC build 7100 x32. It uses the same security as Vista x32, I cannot get the unofficial 1.3 patch to install. Whenever I run the batch file to install it (menu.bat) it says that access is denied to the files it needs to patch. If I run it as an admin then it says it cannot find the battlefrontII.exe file (but everything is in the correct place and I have followed the install directions to the letter)

I have tried disabling UAC and taking ownership and allowing full control. Still no good, still getting access denied... I so hate Vista/7 security, XP security was so much nicer (with the correct security programs in place. Why must I be restricted from doing things to my OWN pc?

Anyone know how I can get this to work? Thanks.

If it truly is simply Vista security, then all you have to do is go to the LucasArts folder Properties, click on the Security tab, and give everything Full Control, then run the menu.bat normally. If that doesn't work, then it is not simply Vista security and there's something else you need to do, but that's all I did for my Vista Security issue.

Thank you! That worked, apparently giving the admin account full permission wasn't enough, I had to give permission to the the "User" account as well, even though they are one and the same since there isn't a seperate admin account on this install... Odd, but whatever, it works now

Can we somehow sticky this somewhere? I've given this same answer at least seven times (although this is the first time anyone has acknowleged that it worked on a computer other than mine) and it's vaguely annoying having to either find the previous topic and copy + paste, or retype the answer.
