Come on, you think I was just gonna let this map die? No way. :P

It's now final and better than ever. I was just playing it earlier today, and it's pretty freaking fun. The CIS has gotten some new stuff, and the Republic has been tweaked. Bugs have been fixed, problems resolved, etc. It's now ready to be released. So here you go:
I, in the ReadMe, wrote:Alderaan Final 1.0 - By Schizo (X-Fire: Nzdjh, Email: [email protected])

My long-awaited first map for BFII has gone final. The entire project was able to go very smoothly, and the map took shape in just the way I wanted. I've been able to fix most of the bugs and problems with the map and make it a very enjoyable map to play. At least, I had fun playing it. Hopefully you will to. :D

Backstory:

The Confederacy of Independant Systems (CIS), getting desperate for resources after the hard first year of the Clone Wars, draws up plans for a mass invasion of several vital Republican planets. Devised by the ruthless General Grievous himself, the plan is precise and thorough. Soon the plan is finalized, and the CIS forces attack. General Grievous leads several bloody campaigns against the Republican planets. But one planet in particular, the peaceful merchant world of Alderaan, is a very promising reward for the CIS war effort. If the droid forces were able to overtake the clone forces on Alderaan, the Republic's economy would take a shattering blow, demoralizing and crippling the clone forces in that sector. Putting the droid commander OOM-9 in charge of the campaign, Grievous orders the attack, and the CIS raids the planet with everything they have.

Now, in the heat of battle, the Clone forces must hold back the droids long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Will the clones hold out? Or will the CIS crush them under their military might? That's up to you to decide.

Features:

- New Special units for the Republic, including a modified Jet Trooper, and ARC Captain.

- New stuff for the CIS as well! Droid Sniper has been given a new camo skin (you'll notice he blends in extremely well with his surroundings... just like a sniper should :P). Droid Engineer has been given the blue droid skin like in the movies, and the magna guard has been replaced with the CIS Maruader, which helps balance out against the Jet Trooper.

- New weapons, inlcuding:

• DC-15S blaster rifle (Jet Trooper)
• "Scatter" Gun (ARC Captain)
• Wrist-Mounted Flame Thrower (ARC Captain)
• Modified shotgun (ARC Engineer)

- My own, made up custom Jedi for the Republic; Vashik Sadar.

- OOM-9 as the hero for the CIS! Have fun... he pwns. :P

- New pwnage mini-map thanks to SQUIPPLE; Master of Everything.

Known Bugs:

- Not necessarilly a bug, but bot pathing isn't perfect, but then again, it never really is anyway. The main problem is the tanks getting caught up on objects. I've tried fixing it, but this is the best I can get it. The bots are too stupid to follow the planning anyway... -_-

Fixed Bugs and Changes (from previous .75, .95, and .99 beta releases)

- DC-15S and Scatter Rifle no longer have the award rifle bug.

- Mini-map is now in-game (and pwning).

- Ground has been lightened a bit, though, I notice that when you play the map with terrain quality on the high setting, it's really dark. I recommend playing on the low terrain quality setting; it looks better (oh the irony :P).

- All units, weapons, etc. are localized and fixed.

- Neutral CP on CIS side is no longer floating off the ground.

- 1-Flag CTF has been fixed up and tweaked.

- Mini-map has been tweaked so as it's a little more accurate.

- 2-Flag CTF, XL, and Hero Assault mode have been removed due to way too many bugs (I never play them anyway...)

- Added barriers around the center of the map, so bots won't get stuck on the walls and fountains.

- Vashik Sadar's animations have been changed from Obi-Wan's to Luke's. I like it better that way anyway.

- Added some stuff to the CIS to balance it out more. Playing as the droids is a lot more enjoyable now. :)

- Toned down the ARC Captain a bit so as he's not so god-like and a little less... unbeatable. Increased the number of points to Unlock to 20, and weakened his gun just a tad, but nothing all that noticable. He now no longer makes much of a difference in the map since it takes so long to unlock him.

- Cleaned up the Clones just a bit. They now all wear blue matching armor. The Sniper still has the camo armor though.

Credits and Thanks:

- Teancum, for basically setting up all the gamemodes and helping to get the original version of the map working. He also was vital to the map for helping me fix the animation bug with Vashik Sadar (after adding the custom CIS side to the map, his animations got all f-ed up, so spawning as him would crash the game). It works perfectly fine now, though. You deserve the most thanks, man.

- And also, Squipple for the PWNAGE mini-map. Looks exactly like the official ones. Just what I wanted. Thanks man.

- Everyone else at GT who helped to find bugs, problems, etc., and for all their support. Thanks a lot guys. You really helped in making this map.

Crap, I just realized that 1-Flag CTF crashes when loading. I know exactly what the problem is. Simple problem with the Mission.lua. I'm going to fix it now. For anyone who hasn't already downloaded the map; wait till I get the fixed version up. To everyone who's already downloaded it, sorry for the inconvenience.

Stupid me... forgot to edit the Mission.lua correctly... -_- And on the final release at that! Now everything's gonna be all screwed up...

EDIT: Okay, fixed it. The download link's now back up. Sorry about that guys. I can be such a dumbass sometimes... >.<

I just hope the 9 people who downloaded the last version will be able to get this one. I feel bad I didn't go and test it out before rushing to release it. There's a lesson in all of this, methinks.

Ah well, look forward to the next map; Alderaan: Alleyways soon. I'm going to start work on it probably sometime this week.

XL was full of bugs that I didn't know how to fix or feel like going to the trouble to fix. Same goes for Hero Assault, 2-Flag CTF, etc. I didn't want to deal with it. Plus, I don't really like maps with a bunch of different game modes. I like to stick to the basic Conquest - CTF combo.

As for the Urban Camo troopers, I, personally, like the blue clones better. The sniper still has the camo though. So, you win some, you lose some.

This is a great map and was a lot of fun to play both as clones and CIS. Keep it up.

Ha, thanks. That means a lot to me. I don't think it's the best map per se, but I do have to admit that it turned out fairly well. I'm pretty proud of the result. Hopefully the next one will be better. It'll mainly involve alleyway fighting and such. Like this map, it'll focus on infantry fighting for the most part, though I may add some speeders and whatnot. There'll probably be some skyway action too. Depends if I can incorperate it into the map well enough. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I'm probably also going to start work on other projects too. Kessel, Nelvaan, Fondor Shipyards, etc. are all plans for maps I might make. If you haven't noticed, I try to stick mainly with planets people haven't done yet. :)

If your doing maps that no one has done yet why not try Hypori (clone wars animted series)

Man, I played CTF on this map last night as CIS for almost an hour and only got 2 flags. That's some serious difficulty. Nicely done.

Just like an actual battle should be.

You'll notice that the teams are a lot more balanced now that the CIS has been tweaked and Republic toned down a bit. I'd say they're equal now. I'll probably end up using the same units for the alleyways map... but then again, there's always room for some new units and such.

Glad you liked the map though. I was meaning to add some CPs a little closer to the center in CTF, but I never did get to it. In fact, I completely forgot... ah well, I'm still happy with the result either way.
