Any way to bypass the particle limit?

Particle limit is the nastiest and the most annoying thing I have ever seen in my life. Maybe there is a way to fix it, like edit some file responsible for it. Or change the particle rendering algorythm and do not render them outside FOV and behind non-transparent objects. The problem is - I have no clue how to do any of this. Any help?
